I only really use garlic butter for pizza or garlic bread so I keep it in the freezer.

Q2. Why is my container "not suitable for foods with a high fat or sugar content"?
just a thought, but is it possibly unsuitable for heating high fat & sugar foods in the microwave? these can get so hot they'll damage or stain plastic containers

Not sure if this will be useful to you or not, but I have made flavoured butters before and rolled them into chubby sausage shapes and then wraped them in foil. I bung them in the freezer and then just slice of what I need, quick blast in the micro to soften up and away you go?? I may have missed the point of your question but am just off to bed and so a bit spacey lol

I think Swan is right, the no high-sugar or fat content must relate to microwaving. It wouldn't make sense to not be able to store butter in a plastic container.

Agree with ok go, I make up garlic & parsley butter 250g at a time, then make it into a roll and freeze it. When I want some I just slice off what I need and get the rest back into the freezer.

We do love our garlic here :D
  • I always keep mine in the freezer

    Hi Zenmaster:hello:

I would also go ahead and use it for storage - i can't see a reason why you couldn't store butter in it. If you are very concerned, you could always contact the manufacturer or take it back for a refund?

I'll add your thread to the existing one on garlic butter later, to keep the ideas together. Also, i'm going to freeze me some garlic butter too !:j

    thanks:)

Some plastics may be succeptible to leech plasticisers when used in direct contact with very fatty foods. You could always put it inside a small pot and then seal that inside the lock box.
