"its not up to the garage to tell her about the damage BUT up to her to ask"
Thats poor, another easy ripof of consumers !
Any damage will affect the value and should be disclosed.0 -

depends on the quality of work.
the buyer only found out by the receipt.a dishonest garage would have thrown away the paperwork,no?
many, many new cars are damaged in transit to the dealers and are repaired en route or at the dealers before ever being registered0 -
Was the vehicle bought from a dealership that dealt in the same make as her vehicle?
If so, was her vehicle repaired at a dealership (that one or another one dealing in the make)?
If it was, then they certainly would have had access to repair information from their computer systems.
Unfortunately, however, it IS up to the buyer to ask.
Were the repairs substantial?
If they purchased from auction, they may not have known. If they took it in part-ex, speak to the previous keeper and ask him/her if the garage was told aboout the damage. Obviously you have no axe to grind with that person, so make that clear from the outset.0 -
One of the first questions to ask when viewing a car, be it dealer or private is
"has it been involved in any accidents?"0 -
you do not ask, unlike many things you can check for sure
you check through the relevent authorities and check if it has been in an accident or any outstanding loans on it and you pay for this service,
HENCE why people ask own fault realy if they are given a dishonest answer .0
