blue dress??

I would love a blue wedding dress, not baby blue but something deeper, peacock blue or Navy royal blue. Hubby will be wearing his Dress blue military Uniform,i just love the colours, and I also want a blue dress. Finding it difficult to find something that is not like a sugar plum fairy dress, baby blue etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Also does anyone know of any reputable ebay shops that could make one, as I am open to this too.

  • What a fantastic idea. I would have liked a coloured dress but OH threatened not to turn up (bit traditional bless him). We are still "discussing" colours for bridesmaids dresses!

I have ordered my dress from eBay after researching the seller and am expecting it in the middle of March.
Her listing has a colour chart with 81 different colours on it.

I'm not sure if she would make wedding dresses in the coloured satin but can't see any reason why not it doesn't hurt to ask and she is very helpful.

China has shut down for 2 weeks for Chinese New Year so might be a problem if you are in a hurry. Will PM you the link to her shop
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

Hi. saw an amazing midnight blue wedding dress in a wedding fayre the other week - it was stunning and had ruffles in the back sealed with crystals and diamontes. I'll have to have a look through my brouchers to find the designer for you!!

Also remember thinking how wondeful the bridesmaid dresses were by James Clifford

if you were looking for a simple straight dress, I think this would be stunning!!

Was also going to suggest that a silver or platinum dress would go lovely with your HTB's outfit, like Sophia Tolli but you said that you wanted a blue dress, (she does an opal Blue dress....)but here's a pic anyway:

Could you get a white dress dyed to the exact colour that you want or would it be too awkward to visualise how it would look?

I know what you mean, my first two attempts at trying dresses on were horrendous, The first attempt was at the wedding show in London last January. Now having never been a bride before I didn’t know that wedding dresses come in pointless sizes. So there was a size 14 dress I wanted to try on and the woman said “you will never fit into this, this is a BRIDAL 14” I was so embarrassed I left the exhibition.

I then avoided all wedding shops until last September (my friend MADE me go) I went to Pronuptia, I assumed that being a big chain they would be nice, WRONG. The women there were really snotty, the first thing she asked me was my budget, she then said “well as you mother isn’t with you I know you won’t be buying a dress today” she said it in a way that made me feel like I was a waste of time, I then told her what I wanted which is categorically NOT a white/ivory dress, I wanted red and that was that, she then brought loads of dresses that were all white and way out of my price rage in for me to try. I then tried a sale dress on that was red (yippee) and was a size 14 (yes a bridal 14) and she said “well you will need to get at least three sizes bigger, probably even 4” again I left heartbroken and depressed.

At this point I had decided I didn’t care what dress I had as I could only have them for my big fat self in ginormous sizes. So I decided to go to the little wedding shop round the corner when they had there £99 sale and just buy whatever fitted and be done with it.

The people in the shop were WONDERFUL! They helped me try on lots of different styles to see what I liked, I even tried on a huge ruffled dress that had a flower in the middle of the skirt, I said I didn’t like the flower so the seamstress picked it off for me to have a look at, after a few dresses I found one I liked for £600 but wasn’t keen on the train but was going to get it, they said to wait a sec and they went and found the PERFECT dress, it was classed as a bridesmaid dress for some reason and was only £225 and the prefect wine red colour I wanted. Not many places would try and sell you the cheaper option.

Anyway my point after all that drivel is don’t give up on what you want, it IS out there and you WILL get it, don’t let petty selfish minded sales staff put you off :j

    Aww they sound really nice!
I have to say I have found the same thing... Some shops you are made to feel totally a waste of time and me being a fairly polite person normally if it wasn't for the sheer rudeness then I'd just walk out and not come back. But these days I tend to confront them straight on about it and point out that SHOULD they have the right dress for me then I will now go and find it somewhere else instead of through them.
Keep looking - when you find your dress you'll know! (although have a look at maggie sottero's website... they have some gorgeous dresses! and any maggie dealer can order you any of her dresses I think :) )

    Try these people:

    http://www.thefrockfactory.co.uk/

They do a wide range of colours inc royal or navy blue. My sister got my bridesmaid dress from there, not bad prices and well made. You can mix n match the corsets and skirts to get the look you want.
