Phones 4U runaround

Hi. My daughter has bought a LG KG800GSM handset/ contract with Vodaphone from Phones 4 U. not 3 months old yet phone is immaculate condition, There is a fault on it ie poor coverage, bluetooth cuts out when being used + screen flickers.
Sent away by local phones 4 you shop to there repair dept (0870 ) number which very rarely answers. Finally a voice at the end of the phone is saying the phone has been examined and has been user damaged inside???????? it's your fault. When asked were the so called engineers report is the answer it has been posted ist class to you 3 day's ago. if you want the phone back it will cost £49.99.! When I phoned our local phones4 you branch I'm told it was bought through our online buisness we can't really help you.
This is all very Mickey mouse to me, any advise please.
regards

I had a faulty phone from P4U, I was ammoyed that they insisted on sending it to repairs rather than replacing it. Anyway when they sent it off they warned me there would be a charge if it turned out to be user damaged. The repair was done within days and the phone returned so I was happy inthe end.

spinningsheep thanks for the reply. tried ringing them, trying to get through is like swimming in treacle, finally got to speak to a customer care team member totally unhelpful just kept saying sorry data protection act can't discuss ect, ect, asked for a manager got flatly refused then made a fuss politely of course for 11 mins (yes I timed it) got a so called manager,it was like talking to the first person totaly negetive they will not talk to me about it only my daughter, all I want is to get to the bottom of which looks like a right con, what I need is the name of a person of substance within Phones 4 U so I can send him/her a letter explaining all..... any help on this people.

  • Will the £49.99 cover the cost of the repair and return of the phone or will it just cover the return of the phone unrepaired.

If it is unrepaired then it is a bit steep. The warranty companies I deal with charge from £10 - £17 + Vat for this.

Wait for the letter to see what damage they have said has been done.

Has your daughter called them? They have to be very strict nowadays with Data Protection as the fines issued can be unlimited for breaching them.
  • Yes she has tried again & again, eventually she got through to some idiot who could not tell her what this so called fault was (what a waste of phone time ) but told her what the cost would be (above). I eventually tried to get an answer what seemed like swimming in treacle for about an hour a customer service robot (Polite but useless ) kept saying Data protection act can't talk ad infinitum. flatly refused to let me talk to a manager after 10 mins she finally agreed , new robot same mantra.
I suspect this is all a game telling a lady that her phone has an internal fault & it's her fault. and then refusing to talk to me, not to disclose any private data just explain to me what said fault was. They have effectively stolen her phone and is holding it for ransom to the tune of £50. New day now post has arrived, still no engineers report!. what a scam.
