Credit Card Balance Transfer Discussion Area 3

Thankyou for that peter, I hope it has got everything off your chest.
Can we now simply draw a line under this? I would suggest that any further discussion about this matter should be taken to the "Discussion Time" forum rather than here.0 -
To me it still seems a very minor technicality as to whether I do the transfer from Egg to my bank the day before or the day after a balance transfer from another card, and I think the credit card companies would consider it a pretty minor point too.
However I realise that Gal and Martin have no choice when directly asked whether we can recommend breaking T&C but to say No, and I accept that.
Maybe when explaining to new members how it works I could say something like this:
"Strictly speaking doing this ... would break the terms and conditions (although many do), so to stay 100% legit you should do it this way ..."
I might need to work on the wording - I'm sure Gal will tell me if I cross the line.
On the subject of being pinned down by direct questions I do find it amusing when people tell of phone calls to the credit card companies about stoozing where they start squirming. The companies know full well what is going on but, of course, they must never tell you it is ok or they lose the ability to stop it. They would rather turn a blind eye for now, keeping open the option of enforcement in case they ever need it.
EDIT: Oops! Sorry Gal. Our posts crossed. Feel free to move this if you want.0 -

Thanks for the link. I alreeady have a Barclaycard so i guess the only option is LloydsTSB or Virgin card as they have 9 months interest free. Does the Virgin card have a transfer fee though?Filiss0

Virgin "may" charge a transfer fee, but MBNA (who operate the card) didn't charge me anything on the transfer I requested when I requested it on the application. I applied online, after which I was sent a form to sign, which had a transfer request form that allowed a transfer into my bank account. I requested it on this form and wasn't charged. If you request it after the application you are likely to be charged.

MBNA does not charge me when I did my BT on application form. But it said they would charge for later NTs.0
