Hi. Just got a cool from Skylight studios. Won a makeup/hair/photoshoot day worth £250. Can bring 4 friends along. £30 deposit each, get it back upon arrival. Famous photographer doing the shoot.
Did anybody go along to theirs once won?
(Found a few threads on it)
She said it was a genuine competition, no strings attached, no money to be paid.
Any thoughts? x

Did u enter the comp? If not then how could you have won, sounds like a sale-pitch thing.0

I've done one of these before - the string was that you didn't get the photos included
They take lots of lovely photos, show them to you, and offer them for sale at £50+ each. Most people fold and buy a few, giving them their profit.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I wouldnt do anything that asks for money, even if they say you get it back - bet they do the hard sell to keep it!!!0

Can't remember if I entered a competition for it or not. Enter so many! But can't seem to find it anywhere on here (which is where I enter all my competitions from!)
They don't give you the pictures, you have to buy them. Dont know if it's worth going for the makeover and being a photographer myself I can see how this supposed 'famous' person does his shoots.
Dont know if its worth it.

I don't know if it was the same company... but yes, it was good photography but way outside my budget. I saw some beautiful photos of myself but couldn't afford to buy them, so I walked out empty-handed.
I don't regret it at all, but still feel it's right to be up-front about these things.
You'd be better off booking a session with a local photographer in their studio with an agreement on the photos themselves - after all, they can now provide the digis very cheaply and you can print them off at your leisure. It can work out much cheaper!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
hey
ive just had a phone call and won this.....is it defo worth at least going along??? i do remember entering it so i cant really say i cant. what do ya think?? xx0 -
I "won" one of these last year, didnt go along its a scam to get you to buy the photos they do give the really hard sell. As peeps have already said a win you dont pay for, this company are obviously in need of making some money as they keep on running these scams as some people find it difficult to say no to the hard sell. What we see depends mainly on what we look for

I wouldn't touch them - wasn't there something ages ago on one of those TV progs about them?"Every day when I wake up I thank the Lord I'm Welsh" Cerys Matthews0

I "won" this and paid £30 per person deposit and went down yesterday with my daughter. It is a great big con. We got there and sat in a waiting room for an hour. Then we were given a dodgy makeover, the make up was trowelled on! The hairstyling was nice i will admit. Then we sat another hour waiting for the photographer. The room we were taken in for the pictures was dirty and the dirt was seen on the photographs. Then we sat AGAIN in the waiting room, so your 4 hours of "pampering" is actually just sitting around being ignored! When we went to view the pictures and were bullied basically into buying the whole lot on cd. We were viewing the pictures on the p.c and didn't like any of them, so the guy was moaning because he had two clients waiting to view pictures so he was pressuring us to make a quick decision. He didn't print any out but said we should have them all on c.d to get them home and decide which to keep. Then he charged me £150 for the cd. This was on top of the £60 I had paid in advance - so £210 in total for a cd!! PLEASE BE WARNED ABOUT THIS. I phoned today and spoke supposedly to the owner Boe Wright, and she said they do not do refunds as this is a "personal" service. I asked about my consumer rights and she said I cannot have a refund, they do not do that. I pointed out that I had paid £210 for a cd not even for any printed photos and she laughed and said yes you have!! STAY AWAY - THEY ARE A CON!! Needless to say I have asked the visa company to dispute the payment, and have written to BBC Watchdog asking them for help, and tomorrow will be going to citizens advice and a solicitor! A lot of hassle for a day of "pampering" that i had "won".0
