Do you know which terminals you are flying into and out of?

As the flights are now booked, you need to plan your timings as best your can, and hope that the flight isn't late!? x

Well going out from aberdeen end of august and going to gatwick and in the middle of sept going out from gatwick and going back to aberdeen.

I beleive they have yet to start in aberdeen, only mentioned on 18th jan 08 and i beleive starts on march.

Maybe things will go a little better it being a oil and gas capitol of europe and dont want this to affect many business people who deal in london often as as ba stopped this service these guys only have flybe for that airport.
But what worries me a lot this is not going away during the week its on a saturday morning very early and i would say its higher chance of delay than would be during the week,as for coming back its on a sunday, again same goes for that day.
But my concern is more getting away.

  • You sound like you need to phone around a few insurance companies for FULL cover for your whole trip. It's not only the flights you should be worried about - a much greater worry would be if any of you need medical treatment over there. The flights would be a pittance of possible losses compared to the high costs of medical treatments.

A decent insurance company will tell you if they will cover you for ALL possible flight delays/missed connections + cover you all for medical.

Forget taking the airline insurances - these are usually highly priced & may not offer what you need. Do a search on here for the best insurance companies. We have annual as we normally take a few trips but single trip can be inexpensive especially if you all are part of the same family group.

i cant offer any help with insurance as to be honest i have never thought too much about it.

we always have a connecting flight from belfast to london for our transatlantic flights which have left at between 10.30am and 11.45am. The earliest we have arrived in london on those mornings has been 8.25 and thankfully we have always made our connections.

What i would advise is checking out whether your airline to florida offers online check in as that has always sped the process up for us.

What airline are you flying to florida with? Also which terminal within gatwick are you flying out from? we flew with virgin and is took next to no time time to get from flybe baggage claim to their checkin so had time to relax and have breakfast.

Finding out the above info will help you plan where you are going etc and have much time you realistically have. HTH

Can I ask who you're flying to Florida with ? Is it a charter or a scheduled airline ?

Have you investigated the possibility of getting there the night before? Can you pay to change the flights to Gatwick?

Travel City Direct is I assume the company you booked with not the carrier. What is the flight number from Gatwick

TravelCity Direct have their own chartered flights so yes it IS the airline.
OK end of August-so a busy time and possibly a bank holiday in England-you don't say which weekend so I can't tell,
Talk to Flybe and find out what they will charge you to change to the night before-it may not be as much as you think. Honestly I do think you're pushing it and Travel City Direct are pretty inflexible and unlike Virgin etc are unlikely to let you standby.
for the next available flight. I honestly do think it's a BIG risk you're taking.
Sorry I know it isn't what you want to hear but I've dealt with the fallout as a travel agent when this has happened before and it is really upsetting and expensive..

Thanks duchy for that info on TCD and them having their own planes. I see they are part of the XL group now.

I agree with you that the OP should be looking to get to Gatwick a lot earlier than the flybe flight will currently do. Just too close for comfort.

Well its the 30th august flying from aberdeen,as for changing the flights to another day,say night before its going to cost £25 each £125 for 5 people they already got off us £515 for booking the flights,so to pay this extra sure is pushing the overall cost lots.
Thats not saying there is still seats available night before and if same costs,i checked the other day on the same dates i booked for and noticed they went up on overall cost by £100,how i booked one day and next i tried again and it went up £100,does this mean there flight is maybe filling up?
Just a bit crazy to type in the same dates as i did next day and its up that much booking 5 people again.
