Is flybe single trip req?Info needed asap.

Does anyone use flybe or have used them? i need to know if single trip insurance is required and what it pays out or does.

Here is what i am trying to find out below:


Hi there need a reply asap,i am thinking of booking several flight with flybe and they offer single trip insurance,when this means single trip does this cover both first and return flight?
Also as we are using another airline to fly overseas from london we need to get from scotland to london on another flight so would be using flybe.
If say flybe had delays or flight problems and it made us miss our flight in london to go overseas does this single trip insurance cover this,i am not saying it would happen or will,its i need to know what this insurance is for,we already have an insurance with the other company we have flights booked with that leaves london and they tell us this is only covered for that flights.
So i need to know what this single trip insurance covers as in would if there was delay,would we be covered on our next flight, cause it was the airline flybe that let us down and did not get us there in time.
As if its not for that then what is it for? and its no good to anyone. as delays can happen and things can go wrong with flights,and as there are a number of us going we need to be sure,if flybe let us down we would all be covered and not miss our connection flight or loss any money over it all.

usually single trip will cover you the time you are away. Single trip in this case means cover for your flight/hol and only this one, as opposed to multi- trip (e.g. if i go to the US this month and then the Canaries in April).

the most important is check the terms and conditions with them.

I have done a lot of travelling and I have never bought insurance that the hol company offers. It is nearly always overpriced. We bought annual policy that covered us for any trip we make world wide for £38for two of us (this is without wintersports cover). i think this was via www,moneysupermarket.com.

you really need to work out what you want cover for. for example with us our personal possessions were covered world wide as an addition on our home contents. so we did not want to pay twice for this.

I am still not any clearer in what i should do,there are 5 adults going to the usa to florida,flight and car hire and insurance all at a fair price comapred to others flying from london.
But as we are based in scotland need to get from here to london with another flight,ok there are chances that luggage can go missing etc in these short haul uk flights,but just over an hour flighing chances are low.
So yes the insurance flybe ask for might come usefull for that.

But this is not my main concern,its as its flybe and the only airline that goes to the airport we are going from,if for any reason they failed to get us there in time or something went wrong with the flight,would there insurance cover us,if flights are missed in london,no fault of our own,but there's.

I had a quick look in there terms etc and tried emailing the insurance company they use and they will not tell me or are not allowed to tell me,but on what i can make out is that £20 is paid for first 6 hours delay and then £10 there after for each 10 hours,i maybe reading it all wrong as lots of reading in it all.
But if this was the case,this surely is a joke?

This would be far from covering our loses if they made us miss out london flight,ok the chance of it happening might not happen,but they can do.
As 5 of us are going and that works out a fair amount i wonder if there flybe insurance is worth having,looks like its not?
We contact the insurance company we have with the london to usa flight and they say this only covers us for that flight.
So what is one supposed to do take a chance and hope flybe get us there,if they dont dont we then have problems.

This can happen both ways going away and coming back,but most important i suppose is the going away,as when your back you have done your trip and things are not so much stressful.

I have used two different airlines in the past cause flights go from london,well once before and that was with ba,but as ba dont go there now,flybe is the only one as as they are a no frills airline i wonder if they are as good as ba,or is they are more like easyjet,who we all know can have problems time after time.
Need to book these uk flight asap,but no idea if we use the insurance they have or maybe look for something else,or if really the london to usa booking we have the insurance covers it all,but they say it does not.

How long are you leaving between your two flights?

Not all policies will cover you for missing a flight with another company/ not booked as part of the same package. You need to call the insurance company and ask the question.

You may be surprised to know that some of the no frills airlines have considerably less delays than BA!

What insurance company?
We have insurance with the booking from london to usa,we called the people we booked with and they said i think we would be covered if our travel getting to london was dealyed,but said best ask the insurance company and they said no its only for the flight for london to usa,does not include other flights and delays,which i would understand as why would they want to pay out if its another airlines fault.
The flight we would need to take to get to london is flybe which offers insurance,but after asking them and then asking there insurance company,which said or could not give me any info as not allowed or would not talle me,and after reading through there very long terms etc,it looks as if it would no way near cover or loses if they was going to be a problem.

So unless we took this flybe insurance i thing it maybe only good for say lost luggage and a few other things,but i now have a problem if they did delay or messed our flight about getting to london and we missed our flight from london to usa,that means we would be several thousands out of pocket due to maybe a cheap airline flight delay,or in fact no matter what method we used to get to london train,bus and they got delayed then surely if any of this happened the insurance we have with the london to usa booking would cover if any of that happened,but they say they dont?Unless they are getting it all wrong it was my mother that asked about it.

I maybe am just worrying to much,but things can happen with flights and the last thing i would want is for a cheap airline to fail on us getting to london on the more expensive flights and lose all the money paid on them,as flybe is the only airline flying to that airport.

Im sure a few years back we did the same thing with ba and all was ok,and i did not think about insurance back then,but i have been to oz many times before and i personally book all flights as a package,but this was not a package.

So if we did or did not take flybe insurance,would there be another insurance we could take out that would cover us if we missed out london flight due to flybe delay etc.

As for times between flights, i think we have a couple of hours to spare going away and coming back thats no worries as its several hours.

Well flight would get down there 8:30am and we would be flying at 11:40am to usa,as for coming back no worries there we get back at 9:00am in london and not leave london for scotland till 7:20pm

fraid to say I have 2 recent bad experiences with flybe (out of 2 flights) both Edinburgh to Birmingham. both due to arrive in Birmingham @ 8am. 1st arrived 12.20, next arrive 10.10. My folks did an Edinburgh/Manchester last month and it was also over 2 hour late. If you miss the flight it may be another 24 hours before you can get another ... would be tempted to fly the night before for peace of mind

As a fairly frequent traveller to the US-and an ex-travel agent-I personally wouldn't leave just three hours. I'd travel down the night before and stay in a hotel, Three hours is too much of a risk and there isn't an insurance that would cover you in this instance for rebooking the transatlantic flight. If you had booked it as a through ticket you would have been covered but this way it is a risk-and a bigger one than I'd be prepared to take personally (and I DO take risks-I've often flown to Vegas with very expensive show tickets for 4 hours after I've arrived). I agree the return is not an issue-but the outward-please consider very carefully-you can get hotels fairly cheaply in the Gatwick area (Premier and Travelodge for example)

Wowzers, no, please don't leave such a short time between flights, especially if you are having to change terminals.
