They are the same spec as the previous Bausch and Lomb lenses I used but if anything are more comfortable. With respect andybk, I'm not convinced your daughter's optician has given the full story there as these lenses are supposed to be exactly the same as branded ones. It is just that Ron Hamilton the inventor of daily lenses got sick of seeing the big companies ripping off the consumers and decided to sell them direct once he was no longer restricted by contract, so he started daysoft.
Wouldn't have been the specsavers optician that said daysoft lenses were no good would it? :rotfl:Seriously, I would be interested to see any articles etc that you could link to - if there is any problem with them other than sour grapes from the companies he is undercutting, I'd like to know.
My D&A optician of many years said that the daysoft lenses I'm using are fine (I haven't bought lenses direct from D&A for several years now as I changed to buying them cheaper online - so no conflict of interest there) as my eyes were in perfect health when checked recently.
By the way, there is a dedicated thread here about buying CLs online, daysoft has been discussed at length. Martin also endorses them by giving them a mention in his CL article here.
Daysoft have got a special £4.99 offer on during February too, so worth giving them a try at present.
Endorsement by Martin means nothing.
Anyone who seriously thinks Daysoft lenses are as good as mainstream manufacturers needs their head examined! They are made using neanderthal technology, which means they are very inconsistent, prone to tearing and awful to handle. When Bausch & Lomb bought Award (the original company), it quickly realised how poor they were and set about developing their own design (which isn't much better!). You only have to read the posts where people have received faulty batches - it shouldn't happen.
Cheap isn't always the best and eyesight is just too precious to cut corners just to save money. BTW, I fit contact lenses, including Daysoft (reluctantly) and have no financial interest in which lenses are used. I'm just concerned about ensuring people have what's best for them.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

everyone elses' experiences (and mine) prove contrary; we've had no problems
i've been using for a year (am due for my second contact lens checkup) and have had no problems with damaged lenses, only one lens has been torn for me in the past year (tore when putting it in my eye, was hungover lol)

If you carried out a blind test with Daysoft and say Ciba Dailies, I know exactly which would come top - and it isn't Daysoft! The only reason people rave about them is because either they are influenced by their wallets or they have not experienced the better alternatives.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Well yes, with regard to daily lenses I've only ever used B&L soflens and then daysoft and as I said, I found them more comfortable than the branded ones. But it seems you don't rate B&L either. If I tried another brand, would I really notice a vast difference? Which lenses are the best? Could I try something different without my optician's approval?0 -
I was recommended Daysoft lenses just over a year ago on this forum. I found that my previous lenses (focus dailies) were irritating my eye and were pretty expensive. I have nothing but praise for Daysoft, from the customer service to the excellent lenses I recieve - my eyes are "able to breathe" and have never encountered a bad batch or tearing whilst using these lenses.
I would say to anyone thinking of trying new lenses definately have a look at Daysoft, as a previous poster mentioned there is a special offer running in February so this would be a great time to order!
I also would like to say I do not work for them lol!Win £2008 in 2008 member's club 777 :cool:0 -
Fair enough if they work best for you. But, you are in the minority.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Just thought I'd add my 2p worth here:
I've been using Daysoft for a couple of years (£13/month) - I was using the Specsavers ones for a few years previously (£22/month) - it took me a while to get used to different lenses as they weren't quite as comfortable, but I haven't had any other problems.
The lenses are fine in themselves - haven't had any problem with them tearing and when I did have a slight problem with the quality of a couple of lenses, I emailed Daysoft and they sent me a month free. I have saved a lot of money using these lenses and I would recommend anyone gives them a try - I am an experienced contact lense user (~10 years), having used both monthly disposable, extended wear and daily disposables, so I do know what I am talking about here.
Someone above mentioned that they're trying to ban these lenses - can you please let us know where you heard/read this as you haven't backed up that statement.
