Well I thought she was going to have a heart attack.
'They shouldn't have put those through. It says clearly on the vouchers that they can't be used with any other offer'.
'But if the till says that the transaction is ok, who are we to argue with it?. Most stores seem to be putting it through ok'
'They shouldn't even have tried'
I just laughed and said 'I'd better go and get mine from somewhere else then' and walked off laughing.[/quote]
Oh dollardog that is priceless, I'd love to go in and tell her I've done that 3 times at 2 different stores, just to see the look on her face.
I think the staff can make or break a shop, because even though we are all getting bargains, let's face it we're all spending a lot of money in there still. I joke at the till when they give me the £5 voucher that they are feeding an addiction by giving a little taster so that you come back for more...... and you do, to spend your voucher.
It's a win/win situation because we are feeling happy at getting bargains and they are getting our custom. OK we're not paying the full amount that joe public who aren't aware of the glitches/offers are, but we're probably, in total, spending a lot more money in there than these people, albeit we have better stocked bathrooms/gift cupboards;)0 -

I should have said that some are also getting the £5 PC voucher off as well, then still getting another £5 voucher, to start it all off again!!
It reminds me of the old program 'That's life', where they used to have the 'Jobsworth award'. I think a lot of these SA's are good candidates for that0 -
At the end of the day Pinkytots, its transactions through their tills, its not coming out if their pocket, so if the till says its ok, then why do they argue about it.0

OMG ladies don't get me started on sa's tonight
I got the Jobby of all Jobsworths today!! I was in the Bon-accord centr Boots and picked up my dream lash mascara, highlighter, gwp combo(which took about 10 mins as i was doing commando moves and nifty side steps to avoid the No7 sa's;) as the No7 manager wasn't there! she is lovely btw and is always happy to try whatever combos you give her;)
I then picked up 3 kids colgate smiles toothpaste (3 for 2)so 1.98 for 3 then a bottle of herbal essence shampoo to get the reciept to send away for the free haircut offer:D and a few other random bits then headed to the till at the back door(upperkirkgate one as they are usually ok there)
She puts it all through total £25.xx so i hands her £5 off No7 pc,(till beeps she says sorry no!!),100pts on mascara,250 pts No7 and 50pts total spend(she says sorry you can only use 1 per transaction, i say since when?and you know the rest so i say i'll use the 250pts No7 and guess what? Till beeps saying it's expired!! Valid till 9/2)So eventually i was losing patience quick so i managed to get her to put the other 2 through instead) then i hands her highlighter voucher (no sorry you won't get gwp now!! I say why?will you try please(through grittd teeth) guess what no beeps:D)and £5 off No7 till spit so in the end i paid £10.xx not what i planned on spending but good deal all the same:D
Should i phone CS as i have had 4 of the No7pts vouchers refused as they beep as expired and the staff say thy cannot over-ride an expired voucher(the ones from the gift sets etc)so i have really missed out on £10 of points:( and i still have the 4 to spend by 9/2 and 4 £5 till spits!!
Sorry this is so long but i'm enraged as you can imagine!!
Never mind another SA another day eh?;)Thought for today:-
There comes a time in your life when you realise who matters, who used to matter and those that never did;)
:T Now facing my debts instead of hiding from them!:T
Thanks to everyone on here than has helped me through my darkest days!:D0 -
A bit rude? I'd say more like extremely rude.
It's what you'd expect from the gym mistress when you've forgotten your hockey shorts- not a reply for a request for help.
Where's pollsdolls and sheahoney? They'll know what to do/sayx
I would have said that if every customer has to check every transaction, that not only would it cause major holdups around the nation, but that it would be a major indicator that Boots system is seriously flawed.
Could also throw in that maybe,
a) Management needs restructuring
b) Employ a new IT company to improve their website.
c) Employ some of us MSE'rs as Mystery shoppers, to alert them to some of the nastier SA's.
And finally a cautionary note, not to issue vouchers if they dont want to honour them.:p~ What goes around comes around ~0 -
went to a store today with a SEL for £1.70 for the Q10 but none on teh shelf. i asked if they were getting any more and she said that it was all being rebranded and she took me to show the day cream in the new boxes, which have a plastic 'window' so you can see teh jar inside the box. they said that the night cream will be in boxes like that.
If that is the case, the one they are selling on Boots.com is the older packaging, because there is no window in it!~ What goes around comes around ~0 -

Exactly, which is why I say the staff make or break the shop because when you get a reaction like you did, you just say well I'll go elsewhere and another shop will get your custom and their sales will be down, because even when we are getting them at next to nothing ,as the lady who makes her own cosmetics said, they are still making profits.
I've only started bootsing in the last month or so and even though I've gotten some brilliant bargains I've still probably spent much more in there than I would have normally done and I've got enough face cream to last me years, but I'll still go on buying more with my vouchers/glitches etc, because it's more like a hobby now than anything else, I get quite a thrill out of a good shop and for as many of us that take advantage of what's on offer there are loads more people who go in and spend the relevant amount and don't even notice the gwp, never mind pick it up.
It's short-sighted of the SA's not to realise what a good long-term customer you'll be, but unfortunately a little bit of power goes to some people's head ............. and in the meantime we'll just try and shop in the branches with the nice SA's ,who are happy for us to get a bargain and who realise whatever we're spending we're keeping them in jobs.0 -
Just thinking....... how addictive is bootsing, when you can't sleep (it's just gone 4am) and you think oh good I can have a look at the sale stuff at 5.30 - someone help pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease:eek:0
