Inherited PC

I have just been given a pc that had XP Professional. I was given it because the previous owner and done something to it and couldn't get it to work.

I have reinstalled my own XP home edition on it and pleased to say that it now runs smoothly but I have two questions.

first one is - will it now have the two o/s running. I can't see any trace of the pro one but when I was installing XP Home it asked me which one I wanted to startup with.

The other question is - I want to connect to my wireless connection. I have look in me network connections to see the "view available networks" but this option isn't there? any ideas as I want install cc cleaner on it.

if its a PC or an old lappy it wont have wireless built in. thats why you cant see any wireless networks.

you can transfer the prog, ccleaner via a usb pen drive.
    Get some gorm.

It is a Desktop and it says that I can create a new wireless home network but I just want to view whats available so I can pick mine up and just type in my password.

With regards having two o/s on it. How do I delete the XP Pro one?

delete the partition with xp pro on it.
make sure you know which one it is!
get it wrong and you will have to reinstall the whole thing again.

Do you know if you installed to a different partition as XP Pro??

    Have a look in C:

Do you see something like Windows001 as well as a Windows folder?

If you installed onto a different partition (e.g. D: ) a few files will still reside on C: so you can't just delete the C: partition and let D: take it's place.

It all depends how you installed :)

    EDIT:
Considering it is a new installation. It may be less hassle to reinstall XP Home but choose an Advanced Install. You can then reformat the hard drive before XP Home goes on.
That will rid it of any stragglers from XP Pro.

Jasmin - you said it only asked when you was doing the install - Are you still asked which OS you want to run ?

Boot.ini will be sitting on C: (and ntldr and a few more)

If C: is formatted it won't boot.
