Sorry to give the wrong impression, but I wasn't excluding UW from dodgy practices.

I did think that was the case, but I couldn't resist. :D

    * I love the term "executive"!!
Reminds me of the man who said "Two weeks ago I couldn't even spell 'executive' and now I is one" :rotfl:

I'm a "qualified executive" so I guess that means I is a big knob now. :D

The problem is, whilst it's an offence -whats the punishment? There is none.

These companies just say "retraining" and limp wristed Ofgem naively say "ok, thats fine then"...result...culture of salesmen with no penalties.

If they want to keep their commission, maybe a system of fines would help deter some of them.

The second last time I had 2 salesmen (they looked more like kids), was about 2 years ago, I had just switched to Equipower. I did talk to them and when you do that it's difficult to shift them, but eventually they left.
Two weeks later I got a "sorry you are leaving us" letter from Ebico/Southern Electric, they have switched me company without my consent. I was furious, but Southern Electric has sorted it out in no time.
Now I've got a sign on my door stating "Cold callers are not welcome here", and I haven't been bothered to much by them, except 3 weeks ago, when one of them landed behind my front door, he started holding his badge and wanted to show it to me (the badge), I was like a nutcase, I was gesticulating and pacing in my hallway(I must have looked like Jack Nicholson at the end of the movie "shining"), telling him that I didn't want to change anything, I was happy how I was, and that I didn't want to know(shorter version), he never had time to say anything and I eventually closed the door on him, but not before having a look at him.
I'll always remember his head, it was hysterical:rotfl: He looked at me totally shocked and probably thinking about how I had forgotten to take my medications.
I just don't want to talk to them anymore. I had enough. You are nice to them, they try to scrwe you every possible way, you tell them to naff off they might sign you up against your will, so if I play nutter they might forget about me, (or not:rolleyes: )but like that I get rid of them rather quickly.
I still don't understand how falsifying a document to sign you up without you knowing is not identity theft, or fraud.
I'll have to stick a bigger "no cold callers here" poster on my door, obviously some of them can't find it or can't read.

Ofgem do nothing to enforce any penalty they just leave it with the Supplier. So Ofgem have only themselves to blame and the practice will continue.

The only ones that ever seem to get penalties are the ones caught stealing off old ladies whilst they are in their homes! Then the police deal with them.

  • We had one at the door and he wouldn't tell us how much they charged per unit or whatever but insisted it was still cheapest.

We set the dog on him. :)

funny I had talktalk the other day...
I told him I was stuck in a contract and if and when I want to change to something in the future I'll give them a ring he went away happy and I found it funny...you have to play them at there own game he also asked for my first name as he knew my last so I said it was henrietta which it isn't of course but if he had my first name he could change me over with that so if they try now my details don't match never give a stranger your details...:Dit's not lieing just evading the truth to a complete stranger...:Dalso I found it quite funny how my local rag are saying that our town are banning doorstep doorsalemen cold callers that sort of thing...

You should have said 'Dave', then scratched your groin. He wouldn't have bothered you again. :)

Sadly those that gave these salesmen a bad name cause a lot of slammed doors. However, they are not all like that so I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. If they give me any BS it's pretty easy to get rid of them.

As long as you conduct your sales with ethics, a jobs a job.
