O2 Charging us £882.70

Can anyone help? My fiancee got a contract phone from O2 and they told him the internet was free on it, he then reecieved a bill for £120 which included mostly internet charges he rang them and informed them that he was told he got free internet, he did not pay the bill, then his phone would not send text messages so it took it to the shop they would not change the phone or repair it. Then last week he recieved a debt collection letter of £882.70 saying he had to pay the bill and the rest of the contract and they have cancelled his phone, is this right? please help!!

Yes.

He received a bill, he didn't pay it. O2 blocked the phone and charged him for the remaining period of the contract.

How many letters did he just ignore?

He should speak to O2 now, although he should have understood his contract from day 1.

If he got a contract with the phone saying he got unlimited internet usage, then you are fine. Since they'd never do that, I'd have a very nice word with them and promise to pay the 120 quid, grovel and ask them to send the debt collectors away

if your oh calls o2 and asks to speak to debt assistance they will be able to recall the debt from the collection agency and will reconnect his phone when he pays the £120.
you do get some free internet on o2 but it will not be unlimited
