I need to hire a dehumidifier to dry out my new conservatory before the carpet is laid. The dehumidifiers available to hire are for use in particular size areas and I dont know how to work out how many cubic metres my conservatory is.
The conservatory is an oblong one and is 4m by 4.5m, can anyone help me please?
Thanks

Hi Helen,
I think you will need to include the (approx) height of the conservatory to be able to work out the cubic metres.
Multiply the length x depth, then multiply the answer by the height.
I think this is right, but I'm going from memory  ........If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

You need the height too
Length x width x height
4m x 4.5m x ????? = xxxx cubic meters.
Probably about 3m - or its it a pointy roof one????0 -
Yes a pointy roof, just been trying to find a tape measure but its out in the car. Will post again tomorrow with the height. Thanks. There's no woman sicker than the woman who is sick on her day off !0

Im a tiler and as its "a pointy roof " haha,
I would say that 60 cubic metres would be a good estimate.
Cheers Steve (4m x 4.5 x 3.5= 63m cubed)0 -

To get the closest approximate measurement of a 'pointy roof' one, you need to measure half-way up the slope of the roof and use that as your guide. This will mean that even if you have a conservatory that slopes off to one side or another - you will have slightly over-estimated, which is preferable.CarQuake / Ergo Digital0 -

Do I just measure from the floor (inside) to half way up? Sorry for sounding so dumb! There's no woman sicker than the woman who is sick on her day off !0 -

Will the fact that conservatory has gable end make a difference? There's no woman sicker than the woman who is sick on her day off !0

Don't believe the dehumifier will be so precise about your volume. 60m3 should be a great order of magnitudeI lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0

How is the conservatory linked to your house - do you go through a clear opening into the conservatory or do you go through a doorway - if you have doors then great as you can shut them while dehumidification occurs - if you have no doors or a sizeable hole then you should size up the room that its open too when sizing for your unit0
