A really cheap London hotel 20th Feb

I know I have left things a little bit late, but I could do with finding a cheap hotel for the 20th. I've got a hostel to fall back on, but I'd rather not sleep on a single bed in a room with 9 randomers.

The Hoxton website quoted £190 and Travelodge want somewhere around the £100 mark.

Where else could I look to find a bargain?

I'm after a double room for me, myself and I, for as little as possible. I'll be going to Hotelympia at ExCeL on the 21st so while I'd prefer to stay somewhere reasonably central, anywhere around the London City Airport/ExCeL kind of area would be fine.

Cheers :)

edit: has anyone used the Priceline name your price feature recently?

If you are a member of Pigsback (see thread on the freebies forum) try Roomex hotels as you get 2000 points back for every booking (worth £20). Have just done a quick search and it is showing double rooms from £36 for that night so only £16. I'm not sure about the location of the cheapest ones though.
  • Have you tried Express ny holiday inn? They often have £39 a night rooms including breakfast.
    Loving the dtd thread. x

I had a look and they were about £40 for the night in question, not as attractive as the from £25 rate splashed about the front page of their site. They are my back up if I can't find anything cheaper.

I haven't given accor a spin yet, so I'll do so now. It would be rude not to give ebay a quick look as dodgy as people auctioning off hotel bookings sounds.

Well some people buy those cheap Travelodge rooms and then their plans change so they try to sell their room which I have done before with no problems :)

Accor has some special offers at the moment but might be out of your budget heh.
My hubby and I are going to London next week for a few nights and used the 2 for 1 at the Holiday Inn Express Earls Court..got 2 nights for £120

Good Luck and make sure you check out reviews at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g186338-London_England-Hotels.html
Just type in the hotels you might book (in the search section) and see what others have to say about the place. :D

I took the plunge and booked a £36 room that was reasonably central, a couple of stops away from Kings Cross, so I can't complain.

It wouldn't let me book 1 guest in a double room though, so I've had to book one guest in as '.' Hopefully it wont cause me any problems and the points will turn up in the next 24 hours as they are supposed to, not that £36 is all that bad.

Thanks for the heads up :)

Sorry to bump my thread, but I've got anther question to ask.

The PiggyPoints haven't made it as far as my account 24 hours or so after booking and from logging into my online banking just now the £36.30 they took straight away yesterday seems to have gone back into my account, although I can't get at the money just yet.

I thought I'd try using my Visa Debit card to see if it worked as I don't like credit cards and avoid having them and when the booking went through online, they took the money from it and sent me a confirmation email I assumed it had worked.

They haven't emailed or called me to say that the booking has been cancelled, should I be expecting them to if the money as been returned and the points didn't show up? Is it time to look for somewhere else to crash?
