Sainsburys evoucher - rubbish customer service

I was sent a Sainsburys evoucher as compensation for the poor delivery service over Christmas. I placed a large order and keyed in the voucher, but the website hiccuped and it didn't go through; I discovered this after the shopping was delivered a day or so later.
Since then I've gone round in circles with the blasted customer service jobsworths. They claim that it is technically impossible to refund me the cost of the evoucher and that I will have to place another order to benefit from it. I pointed out that I've done a month's shopping with them and am not about to spend another £70 in the next 3 days. Fell on deaf ears again; clearly there's no-one there with the authority or technical ability to make the refund, no-one who can extend the validity of the evoucher, and no-one with a braincell or two to ask their managers how to even try to sort it out.
So heads up - if you're counting on an evoucher, be warned you may not get it. Having shopped at Sainsburys for years, I'm now taking my business elsewhere, as they are not interested in retaining loyal customers, nor in referring a problem to their superiors in order to get a satisfactory outcome for the customer.
