It's off - DS has broken off his engagement - so there is now no relationship going on. He feels a lot lighter - is doing more responsible stuff at work and enjoying it. I have managed to get through the week on my allowance - and am working all weekend - so might just manage it this week (maybe):rolleyes2Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0

Has she gone back to the States? Even more of a roller coaster for her if she came over here for his sake!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Fist day of my annual leave: I went to the Eden Project - it was cold outside; sunny in the Temperate Biome and hot in the Rainforest! My debit card was declined at the food counter - fortunately I have enough cash on me to pay for the meal - don't know why it was declined - I am within my agreed overdraft limit. Maybe it was because I had just used it to pay for my entrance fee and they thought it was suspcious behaviour? I've had that happen before (with larger amounts of repeated withdrawals).
Sigh - inheritance money is due any day now - I feel surprisingly un-cheerful about it - I think the emotional stress of the past few years is all coming to the surface - like letting go of the tension makes me realise how very stressed I have been. Also, the realisation that my income still means I will have to keep to a very strict budget. I have a few nice things I want to do that I will spend some money on - like getting some horse-riding lessons - always wanted to do that.Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
Once my debts are all settled, I think I will start a new thread and close this one - I am going to need support to learn to live within my budget and STAY debt-free.:money:Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0

Hi bountiful.
I hope you had a good day at the Eden Project. I love it there, particularly the temperate biome.
It's not surprising that you feel weary now after all the stress, but I hope you will feel relieved as well once you're able to pay off the debts. Your earnings will surely go further when there aren't debts eating up your money.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hi Seaxwyn - my income barely covers my outgoings - I will post a new SOA when I start the new thread I think. I am regularly overspending on my budget by about £30 at least. I knelt on my specs yesterday - really hope they can be mended - otherwise that'll be another £40 to shell out.
I went to Mevagissy today - it was perfect - cold, clear, sun and blue skies - beautiful sea, picture-postcard fishing boats in the harbour. Had a lovely walk round the point with my friend - coffee and lunch (paid for ourselves) - that's mostly where my extra money goes (I think). See, that's the thing - paying off the debts is now a reality - and I feel I should be mightily thankful. I am thinking maybe I could mark the event in some way to make it more meaningful - more of an EVENT. But then, I really do need to continue to budget carefully, keep a check on my spending and not build up more debt, because I am still, basically, living beyond my means.
I have been over on the Old Style Board to get ideas. It is hard though, isn't it, to live frugally all the time?Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!0 -
I am almost debt free...............................
Large cheque arrived this morning and has been deposited in an Easy Saver Account for the moment........ Next task is to pay off my debts (hopefully settling the final payments at a bit of a discount maybe). Then, start being a savvy saver and establishing a debt-free future by budgeting carefully. I never, ever, thought that money would fall out of the sky onto me - but it has - and, phew, I am numb at the moment - I just don't know what the feelings are...........I am having a (small) bottle of cider with my hummus and pitta bread tea - followed by a bath with a Lush Bath Bomb (flavour Christmas Buck's Fizz) - day at home tomorrow to really look at what to do next with the money - have been reading as much of the info as I can from :money:and have a good idea of what I need to do.
Love and happiness to you all - if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone!
