Hi,

wonder if you can help?

I bought a car without a log book so sent away a form and a cheque to DVLA to get a new one. Its been 4 weeks now and they cashed the cheque 2 weeks ago. Has any1 done the same as me recently?
How much longer will it be???

Cheers
NJO.

There's no such thing as a log book. It's a registration document.

DVLA's website says they will normally supply the reg. doc within 4 weeks but not to chase them until 6 weeks. So wait a little while longer.

There is no such thing as a Registration Document, from 1st July 05 everyone should have a V5C or a Registration Certificate.

Should be 4 weeks, better chase after 5 weeks. If there was a previous keeper on the record for owning the vehicle, they write to them and ask if they have disposed of the vehicle, before they issue you with a V5C.

If the previous keep does not reply, they issue the document to you anyway after 4 weeks.

I had to get a new one at the end of april and it only took 2 weeks, this is after i had originally phoned them to check that i was sending all the correct bits and they had told me it would be 4-6 weeks, so i think you can never tell, but call them and see what they say.

Silly me - relying on http://www.dvla.gov.uk/forms/frms_vehicles.htm which calls it a registration document. (The V62 form itself, though, has been updated to read registration certificate.

you can get your car taxed using the reminder slip they send you. You've only just got the car so can't be selling it, so why are you 'MAD!!!!' that they haven't sent you something back that isn't majorly important?
