Help again please!! HDD not booting up

Let me get this right, it is a 500GB drive but the PC sees it as a 137GB..... Two words - BIOS UPGRADE.
right i have two comps
number 1 and number 2
1 is the comp that i'm working on with the new hdd
with 1 i installed openfiler on it and during that time i formatted it into 3 drives as such each of them 137 or close too
1 sees the hdd as 500gb (different bios)
2 sees that i have formatted and partioned it and is 137(i cant see that in 1)0 -
Could you just confirm you have:
1. Disconnected the old drive leaving only the new (troublesome) drive connected.
2. Partitioned the drive through FDISK (select all the 1's in the options)
3. Rebooted
4. Formatted the drive (again through FDISK)
It sounds as if the drive is partitioned, so the BIOS recognises it, (whatever it's size) but not formatted (which is why nothing will install onto it.)
edit: ignore my ramblings if I have misread0 -

Tryin everythING
I now have it installed as a slave on the pc
it is recognised in bios and device manager but not recognised in seagate seatools or disk wizard or computer managerment
its there ok just doesnt want to do anything
have I got a dud?
Many thanks0 -
go to seagate ad download the diags and run them. If it does not work the it is duff. If it does work contact segate and ask them as other people using their drive must have had the same problem as you.GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.0

Did you look for a BIOS upgrade (#11)?
My last try would be to go back into FDISK
Delete everything (option 4 IIRC)
Double check jumper is set to master with nothing on the IDE cable (perhaps use a different cable and IDE1 instead of IDE0 slot)
Then go through #13 again.
If it still fails, I would smash it to bits with a large hammer. FAR more satisfying than returning it for a new one!0 -

i can t do anything with fdisk
it gioves me disk error 1 and gives me no options apart from reading the help bit0 -
If neither Seagate tools nor FDISK will allow you to do anything with it in either PC I would return it as DOA.0
