After years of being with AOL i've finally took the plunge and decided to leave, I've got my mac code and ready to go, but i'm so confused, i've scoured these boards to find the best provider but can't figure it all out.
I thought I'd settled on tiscalli 2mb broadband, 15gb monthly usage for £19.99, a massive difference to me as i'm currently paying £17.99 for aol silver, however I've been reading that this company gets loads of complaints and now i'm stuffed again.
Can anyone please, please give me any ideas on who to go with. Being tied into a contract is the least of my worries if the service is good, but i can't afford to go with a provider that you pay upfront for 12 months for instance.
Thanks in advance x
p.s forget to add, i need a provider without limitations on networking 2 pc's for internet access,
aol are a ruddy nightmare for that

I've been doing some more searching and found plusnet they're offering 2mb unmetered BB for £14.99 a month sounds pretty good, any advice or recommendations ?
Also is it worth paying the extra £29.99 for the modem router they're offering as I want to connect 2 pc's to the internet
Thanks xNobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

For info on any ISP you are thinking of moving to visit ISP Review.co.uk and ADSLGuide.org.
Having a look at Plus.net you mentioned, I found they use traffic priority. In other words limit traffic on any port. Therefore, if you use P2P, etc or anything other than basic websurfing you may find you get a really slow speed (nothing like 2mb).
Click here for user reviews on Plus.net (a quick scan revealed a lot of unhappy customers) or click here for further info on Plus.Net from ADSLGuide.org.0 -

I was looking at this offer, however the guy put me off when he told me if I was to use any peer2peer applications, it wouldnt be 2mb, it can be as slow as 20k.Olympic 2007 challenge Started 9 Jan 2007[strike]Aim Silver 2007.00[/strike] Aim Gold 3007.00 Achieved so far:782

I'm looking at migrating from virgin.net and not sure which provider to go with. Can anyone please explain what P2P means? Is it networking?0

P2P is programmes like Kazaa, Winmx, all the programmes where you can download music, movies, pictures, games etc of another user. Most of the files you download of these p2p are illegal.Olympic 2007 challenge Started 9 Jan 2007[strike]Aim Silver 2007.00[/strike] Aim Gold 3007.00 Achieved so far:782

I recently migrated from Wanadoo to Freedom2Surf, all went great, they gave me a date and it connected straight away no downtime at all, I got the free upgrade within 10 days costs £19.99 with a 10gig cap also got a refund from Wanadoo for part of month not used. Very pleased0

Just over a month ago I moved from Wanadoo to AOL - I've personally not had a problem with AOL.
Remember that your line may not be able to cope with a 2MB service - some can and some can't.
All I can suggest is that you certainly avoid Wanadoo as they are expensive.
In relation to monki_man - I use P2P services. I don't care if they are illegal.
So is speeding but a lot of people do it.0 -
So when someone steals your credit card and uses it to fund a lavish weekend away that's also OK because they're not the only one doing it?daveboy wrote:I don't care if they are illegal.
