switching ISP's and need advice

All I can suggest is that you certainly avoid Wanadoo as they are expensive.
I don't think that just because a service is expensive it should be avoided. In moneysaving terms alone, then price is a big consideration. However, just because a service is cheap does not mean it is the best value.
I use zen for my internet. At £35 a month for 2Mb it is definately not cheap. I see cheaper deals around all the time. For me, price was low down on my priority list when I changed ISP (from Wanadoo). Customer service, reliability and speed were what I considered. On all the comparison sites I looked at, all the cheaper providers couldn't touch zen in any of the above categories. The peace of mind I get from dealing with a top notch supplier is worth the extra money IMO.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I never carry my credit card with me so they'd have a job.
Providing I wasn't negligent - the card company pays in any case.0 -

I thought I'd settled on tiscalli 2mb broadband, 15gb monthly usage for £19.99, a massive difference to me as i'm currently paying £17.99 for aol silver, however I've been reading that this company gets loads of complaints and now i'm stuffed again.
Can anyone please, please give me any ideas on who to go with. Being tied into a contract is the least of my worries if the service is good, but i can't afford to go with a provider that you pay upfront for 12 months for instance.
Thanks in advance x
p.s forget to add, i need a provider without limitations on networking 2 pc's for internet access,
aol are a ruddy nightmare for that :mad:rushnowt wrote:I've been doing some more searching and found plusnet they're offering 2mb unmetered BB for £14.99 a month sounds pretty good, any advice or recommendations ?
Also is it worth paying the extra £29.99 for the modem router they're offering as I want to connect 2 pc's to the internet
Thanks x
I have recently moved to plusnet and am impressed with them - I work in networking, and researched what seemed to be endlessly before I took the plunge. But I went for the 21.99 per month variant.
For 14.99 you get a capped 2M broadband, at 2Gig per month. This seems like a lot, but once you watch the news on BBC a little, check out cinema new releases etc. you can eat those megabytes right up.
The 21.99 per month is uncapped, contention ration of 30:1, plus a phone number for support which is a standard geo number (if you know where to look!!). I have used a p2p application, and there appears to be no throttling of it - but if you wish you can turn on their p2p throttle on their support pages by selecting a check box. This is useful if you wish to keep your kids legal. I regularly test the connection, and I can post the results if you like.
I need to have a good broadband connection as I work in the networking field - but also don't want to pay the earth for it. I moved from PIPEX, who I initially saw as a business standard ADSL provider. Their offering is 23.40 per month, 50:1 contention ratio, and only 1Mbit uncapped.
The cheap end of uncapped you have to pay for 2 years ahead to get the full benefit, and these are e7even and euro1net - https://www.e7even.co.uk and https://www.euro1net.co.uk respectively. I did not go for them, because I thought they were pushing the boundary of profitability too much, and hence worried about whether they would be here in a years time.... It may well be worth the risk tho - it is up to you.
Just my twopenneth - I hope this helps. If you move to plusnet by any chance I would appreciate a mention to get any referee stuff.
All the best.0 -
