I think I'm gonna give up. Can't find mac address for either desktop or laptop.
What if I unistalled everything and the reinstalled?0 -
Desktop (assuming windows xp):
Start > Run
type 'cmd'
in this black dos style window type:
ipconfig/all
lists your adapters and their addresses. Under here its listed as your physical address.
For Mac go into network section and look for the airport ID. The airportID is what your looking for. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help

apologies for appearing so useless
what do I do once I have this info? Do I reconnect the airport to the modem?
I'm working off the laptop at the mo and it's connected direct to the ntl modem.0 -
You would write down the MAC address (stands for media access code or something btw). When you directly plugged into your airport router, connect to its settings (like point a web browser to the local address, should be in the manual) and see if theres an option to clone a MAC address. IN this you enter the address of the laptop as it works when you directly plug this to the cable modem.
Then re-attach the router and the modem thinks your airport router is your laptop, and you should be able to use multiple devices through airport router like normal. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help

I gave it up as a bad job last nite. Considering just uninstalling and re-installing.
Gonna contact virgin and request they pay for the wasted calls to their tech support.0 -
Many Virgin Media (VM) users (and I'm one of them) have recently been experiencing connection problems when connecting through a router. Everything works fine when the modem is connected directly to the PC but when the router is added to the equation we frequently lose our connections after indeterminate periods. The VM support newgroups contain a number of complaints and the support staff (who cannot help with 3rd party hardware) have asked their network people to look at the problem. No response has been received as yet but, as far as I can remember, it was only Thursday or Friday of last week that they finally decided too many of us were complaining about the same thing. I'll let you know if we get an update - or you could log in to the newsgroups yourselves and watch the developments.
