Hi i sent my first claim into carphone warehouse on the 16th special delivery next day before 9am. its still nto arrived, royal mail website states 10 days must eb allowed for special delivery. Now I will have to claim from royal mail for my whole redemption (possibly £300-400, will have to check this when i get home). anyone had an experience of royal mail paying out on these types of claims, i was due about 62.50 cashback, i did not tick the consequential loss box, and posted this on another board and was told that i havent got a chance to claim it back now.

anyone had anyluck with this kind of thing or have i lost my chance to claim back.

thanks

Which means, I imagine, they will not pay you for any consequential loss.

Which in turn means that all Royal Mail are responsible for are a few pieces of paper with a replacement value of a few pounds.

Should have paid the extra for the consequential loss cover. Without it you are in no position to put a claim in for the consequential loss you will suffer.

Dont give up so easily. Did the cashback form suggest you send via recorded delivery or is there on their site which suggests you send via recorded delivery ? If there is you went further than this by paying for Special Delivery and I would be tempted to email a few people at Carphonewarehouse.

Try emailing cdunstone@cpw.co.uk explain everything and how you took their advice to send by special delivery. They may let you send it in again. Did you keep copies of the bills ?

hi thanks, i spoke to a nice guy at royal mail today, he told me that the letter had been delivered to the address i put on the envelope but apaprently carphonewarehouse have a redirection address set up on this address and my letter has gone to a place in hedge end in southampton, apparently nearly a 1000 letters go there a day and he said the company get a card left with them that they sign off and return to royal mail (how long this takes is anyones guess but i would imagine quite a while).

he said until they return the card to royal mail the online tracking wont be updated.

not sure if they say it hasn't arrived, but I guess i have to give them a little while to process the claim.

so hoepfully i should hear back in a week or so that my claim has been receieved.

CPW generally accept copies and online bills (they do with my cashback deal anyway). You also have 60 days to claim - therefore if it does not arrive, there may be no harm in sending again.

I would use Special Delivery if they ask for original bills, or if it is close to the deadline, to ensure receipt. I have used Recorded for CPW given the large 60 day delivery window (about £1 compared to £5+ for SPecial Delivery ... that said, I have paid for SD with Mobile Shop, The Link and others given some retailers ability to lose paperwork ...).
