Why not set up a DD to pay either the minimum or full amount if you usually do that.
You'll payment will never be late and you'll never get any late payment fees, nor interest charged if you pay in full.

I've never heard of a bank charging a fee to process a payment even though they are fully entitled to do so if you don't hold an account with them. Maybe they're a little stricter over in NI ?
  • All banks should accept credits to that bank whether they have an account or not for free.

That is unless you are a 'pretend' bank like Halifax and Abbey who won't even accept their own credit card payments from their own customers let alone non customers!

Well, yes. HSBC holds the home account, but IME the bank still charges customers for an over-the-counter cc payment, unless of course you have a current a/c with the bank.

The only way round this is to ask family/friend with an HSBC current a/c to write a cheque in settlement. This would be processed without charge.

These days it's easier simply to pay online ;)

IME, it's just the same in GB.
