What banks will not charge me to pay my Cap 1 bill please?

Hello everyone

I need to pay my first Cap 1 bill and i wondered which banks will not charge me. I went to my bank Halifax (they said NO) and also the Northern Bank (I live in NI) said they would charge £5.

Sorry to be a nuisance but I don't know the quickest way to pay the bill....

Any advice please.

booklover

PS. If payment only reaches Cap 1 by the minimum payment date will I be charged interest??

An Internet payment via your bank should be free :)

You could always ring them up and try to pay over the phone.

  • I paid my Cap 1 in Barcley's the other week and they did not charge me ....but he may have assumed I had a barclays account (I don't) as I first paid cash into a friends Barclay's account that she had asked me to, then paid my Barclay's cc bill, and my cap 1 cc bill with cash ... no charges :D

  • I'm a bit confused and worried! (Just got a Cap 1 card). I've never heard of a bank charging to pay a credit card bill. When you say they charged/wouldn't do it, do you mean it was because you didn't have an account at that bank? Tht I could understand. But surely if you arrange with Cap 1 to take the min payment/full payment each month from your own bank account then it just happens automatically, free of charge like any other direct debit??? I presume you do have a bank account!

AFAIK, all banks will charge if you pay over the counter.

Why not pay online? (A/C no. 81077082, sort code 40-02-50 and quote the 16 digit number on your C1 credit card with no spaces, as a reference.)

This is no faster, but costs you nothing.
If payment only reaches Cap 1 by the minimum payment date will I be charged interest??

If you clear the statement balance in full by the payment due date, you'll pay no interest, provided that you've used your card solely for purchases.

It is true. Barclays are meant to charge for transactions like that if the customer does not hold a Barclays bank account. Some cashiers simply don't bother though as they assume the person in front holds the account or just can't be doing with yet another argument about it.

Well Capital One use HSBC so I suppose HSBC ought to take the payment for free. [They charge non-personal customers a fee during 9-11 in the morning I believe, so go in after that]

  • Ah well ... I guess ~I have been lucky not being charged:D ... will continue to pay over the counter in Barclay's of my local town as they know me ... ( I regularly deposit money for my friend about 6 times a month) and they have never charged ... I guess it is just good luck:D :D

You wont be charged if it arrives on the minimum payment date. If you are checking your account online it is worth noting that the payment will not show up on your online statement until the day after it reaches your capital one account.
