Washing machine doing head in

Problems with spinning,
have checked the brushes seem fine, checked the belt, could be slipping slightly, but seems fine, nothing in the pumop housing.

Any ideas?

Driving me nuts, cant really afford a new one at the moment, as I promised myself a miele this time.

Erm... do you mean that it's not spinning at all? Only slowly? Or banging around and shaking when spinning?

    If the first (or second)...

No flashing light showing on the floor when it's spinning? No crackly sort of sounds from the motor area? (So not a sick motor)

Then it might well be the belt. It may not slip when you try things (with the power off) but when loaded with wet clothes and water it can slip.

Motors are generally fixed with three bolts. Slightly loosen the pair that are in line with each other, then loosen the one that is on slider thingy with a slot in it. Ease the motor out to tighten the belt. Nip the slider bolt tight.

Now check the belt midway along a long bit. It should have some flexibility as you push on it gently, but not more than about half an inch (1 cm) ish.

If it's OK, tighten all the bolts properly.

    If the last...

Either you do indeeed have a blockage either in the pump or outlet pipe - that is - if your filter is clear. OR your pump isn't running.

Or I could keep guessing as to your precise problem all day :)

Although the brushes seem fine, that was the problem with ours when it wouldn't spin properly........they looked fine to my layman's eyes :o

Have checked with the top offf and working the belt seems to be slipping ever so slightly, do you think it needs a new belt, thanks Squeaky, cant find any where that stocks the brushes so I hope its not those.

It comes up with an error message for unbalanced load but its evidently not that as it does it every time thanks guys :money:

    Ok :)

But you could try tightening the belt as mentioned in my earlier reply.

Sorry Squeaks the belt doesnt appear to have any adjustment? There is little play in it.

Thanks did manage to tighten it up a bit more in the end and it was better, but couldnt get it tight enough so hopefully the new belt will do the trick, there is also what appears to be a bit of a pen that I cant ge out stuck in the drum!

    Great :)

About the belt, that is, but the pen bit doesn't sound good.

You'll need to get it out though. Got any pliers that you could get hold of it with?
