I bought this one for my daughter

Info lithium battery which has lasted for well over 300 shots, and a spare at 7 day shop costs only £3.49. Never run out of battery power again0 -
I generally source my Li batteries from eBay where they are a fraction of the price .. and I have never had any trouble. As an example the NP20 for my Casio retails at about £25 but on eBay I managed to get 2 and a recharger for £13 (inc P&P). Similarly I got batteries for my Panasonic Camcorder for a fraction of the price on eBay.superscaper wrote: »They do seem to be about £20-£30 . But I've not found I've even needed a spare.
Like others I buy all my AA/AAA rechargeables from https://www.7dayshop.com. I have found them to be excellent (apart from 1 dud I got a few years back).
ivanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -

After I looked up the typical price I did spot much cheaper unbranded ones. But like a couple of the other posters I've never been in a position where I've needed a spare battery. I think it would only come into it if I went somewhere for many days and forgotten my charger or I simply forget to charge the battery when it's running low and go out with it for the day etc. That can happen I suppose but I tend to check battery level almost as second nature if I'm going to take my camera out with me."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Just my 2penny worth.
I get between 500 and 600 shots with my Canon DSLR on one charge, it depends if I'm using a lens with stabilisation or not, as this can bring it down by a 100 or so shots. I've never needed a spare, I've done several weddings in the past 12 months, and it's lasted for the whole day, but then I do also have a pro-flash unit with rechargeable AAs, NiMh 2700mAh, so I don't flatten the battery that way. I've never yet run a set down, but always charge everything up if it'll be a heavy day of photography.
For the OP, definitely go for rechargeable NiMh AA batteries, a good set of 2500mAh will be well under a tenna, and you'll find 2700 available too.
I've had various Canon cameras, from pro-DSLRs to compacts like Powershots and Ixus, and have always found their Li-Ion batteries to be fantastic, best in the DSLRs, worst in the Ixus, but still excellent for the size of the battery.
Digital cameras eat batteries for breakfast - so get the highest capacity you can. And don't touch NiCads with a bargepole!0 -
