I suppose it depends on the quality of the camera and battery. My own seems to last ages, I think I've taken something like 500 pictures in the last year and I can only remember charging the battery up 3 or 4 times at most over the entire year. Recharging is really fast as well (maybe 90 minutes).

Yes I have never found battery life to be a problem myself. I think that the charger is important e.g. some users get higher capacity batteries and then charge them in a charger that is timed to charge the lower capacity batteries that came with it and they never get charged to their full capacity.

  • I've got a good Panasonic camera.. the lithium rechargeable battery it came with lasts for ages.. 300+ shots. I don't think i'd ever get a camera with AA's.. they're just not in the same league as the LiON rechargables

But how much does a spare lion battery cost?

They do seem to be about £20-£30 . But I've not found I've even needed a spare.

    Three antelopes.

  • You can get replacement batteries for canons on ebay for like £6 for two.

I use 7dayshop's own brand 2500 NiMh batteries and they last forever in my camera (Minolta Z2). The other night I went to see a band and took four 3-4 min videos, and over a hundred pics (but only 3 with flash), and the batteries are still fine.

*edit* and they're cheaper than the ones you get on the high street too! Not sure exactly how much, as I've had mine a couple of years now.
  • Current camera is a Panasonic FZ5.. it's a few years old now, but still works like a trooper. I haven't had the need for a spare battery yet as i'd have to be taking a really large amount of photos (and i can usually get through 400 - 500 at a wedding).

The biggest draw on your batteries is the flash, so video really won't drain it as much as taking a few photos in the dark
  • Power Requirements: CR-V3 Lithium Battery (supplied), AC Adapter EH-61 (optional), Two Coolpix AA Ni-MH, EN-MH1 rechargeable batteries (optional)
