Replacement Ford keys
My Ford Focus came with only one key. After having been quoted by various Ford dealers for any where between £110-£130 for a replacement, I found this site:
http://www.ford-car-keys.com
I got replacement reprogrammed, non-remote keys for £88 for the first one, and an (optional) spare for £25, all-in.
The man's name is Alan, and I found him to be very friendly and courteous. He gives you a quote before he comes out, so you know exactly what you will pay. The whole process took less than 30 mins and he even came to my door on a Sunday.
His contact numbers are: 01252 408078 or 07860 234660.
(Since writing this piece, the URL may take you to a domain registration page, so just use the phone numbers above).

It is cheaper to just get one new key from these people then go to Timpsons (or similar) and get a third key and programme it yourself.
Always have 3 keys for your Ford, you need 2 to programme a new key. When you lose one of your two - its too late !0 -

I was told by my local key cutter that £25 for a spare is the going rate.0 -

They have only come with two keys since they did away with the red master key system in 1998.0 -

Of course they only come with two keys, it's a nice little money maker for Ford at £100+ for a new key !0 -

They'll get as little as possible from me.0 -

Not strictly true. As long as you have the master key (which with modern Fords is the one with the remote buttons), you can code a spare. It just takes a bit of swapping between the two.0 -
Hi i've just bought a blank replacement key for my 2003 focus, fords offered to cut it free of charge(which they did)but the lady in service dept says i need to have it reprogrammed on their machine at a cost of £82. I've been told you can reprogramme it yourself, which i did for the central locking(i only have 1 key+ the new 1)but i can't seem to reprogramme it for the ignition immobiliser. Apparently you need 2 coded keys. Does anyone know of a way round this, without paying ford £82.- cheers mark h.0

I got a programmed key for my 2003 mondeo from keyman. He charges £45 for cutting the key and programming it to the original key.#
Ford quoted me £160 :embarasse0 -
I just wanted to back up Martyn_H's comments on the Ford Keys company (sorry as a new user I can't post the link!). I called Alan after reading this thread yesterday, Alan has just left after about 10 minutes work, I have a new key (the one with the zappers on) for £125. Considering you'd pay as much at a Ford dealer, probably more, have to take the car in etc... this is great value. Alan came to my place of work, called when he was running late, got the work done quickly and effectively. Great service, thoroughly recommended.0

Just called him for a new key for my Transit, he quoted £85. Ford Stealership only quoted £35 which I thought was good value although obviously you have to take the vehicle to them.
I guess it might work out cheaper for some keys but always worth getting a second quote too.0
