No (but see caveat below). The iPod relies on a library to locate songs loaded on it. This library has to be setup via iTunes (or similar) and is copied over to the iPod everytime you update it. In addition, iTunes renames each audio file as it transfers it to the iPod (it uses the form ABCD.m4a) and it also distributes audio files from the same album into different folders. I am sure there's a logical reason for this but I can't think of it.

The only solution I know of is to install Rockbox ( https://www.rockbox.org ) on your iPod. This is an open source replacement OS for some (but not all iPods) and is very stable and reliable these days. One of its features is that it can automatically scan folders on the iPod and add new audio files to its library. This means you can add audio files to the iPod by dragging and dropping them.

As far as I can tell YAMIpod doesn't allow you to drag'n'drop directly to the iPod. You can d'n'd tracks to YAMIpod but you can do that with iTunes. I think the OP wants a solution where he d'n'ds tracks directly to the iPod, which is the way that other MP3 players work.
  • Which is a horrible way to work, as the tracks aren't indexed and sorted into albums and artists and the like.

Why not just put the iPod into disk mode via iTunes, no extra software needed and you can use it like a hard disc, drag and drop to your hearts content, but not sure why you'd want too, you'd loose all the artist and album indexing previously mentioned...

The only other thing I can suggest is remove iTunes from the computer, reset the iPod to it's factory settings, reinstall iTunes, sync the iPod for the first time so it thinks it's new and start again...

Else head on over to: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/macuser/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=14 someone might know here!
