My waters off

Discovered it was off about 6 tonight, a friend confirmed it has been off all day. Been to united utilities website and they say for planned outages, they will inform you, nothing, for un-planned they will let you know, not a dicky bird.

Now by my reckoning it's been off for 12 hours at least, apparently get 12 quid for that.

But my gripe is, we don't know what's going on, wife sweaty after netball, no bath, daughter at the age that she needs/wants to be clean, son doesn't give a damn.

Just fortunate we have a water filter and some bottled water. what about the others that don't and have young children. Just realised, old lady in the shop buying four big bottles of water:doh:

Does anyone know if they will work overnight to repair?

Oooh err, no idea if they work overnight, but hoping you've got your water back! This happened to us a couple of months ago too, it's a right pain.

surly if its planned they should let people know in advance that way they can make plans to store water if even just for a cuppa..

If you think your water is likely to be off for more than a day, then tell your local council's environmental health department about it. Water companies sometimes drag their heels over reconnecting you, but environmental health departments are able to put pressure on them to get their act together.

United Utilities number for future reference is 0845 7462200. Its open 24 hours and they should be able to tell you why your water is off at a certain point. If needed they will send someone out to rectify the situation (if it was a burst for instance).
