You cant go wrong with a 1.4 volkswagon polo.
German built so they last for ever you can pick one up £2k with about 30-40k miles on the clock.0 -
im not sure what my insurance would be on that i have been driving 2 years in november my first year i paid £769 for a 1.0 litre suzuki swift petrol then i got a 1.5 diesel corsa and it was the same price but after my first year went down to £340, so i thought i would keep the engine low for the insurance0

Polo insurance groups are 3-5 and the 1.5 desiel corsa are also 3-5.
So if anything it should be lower again.0 -
What ever you do dont get a 1.0 corsa, they just dont have enough power. my sister bought one on a 53 plate as her first car to keep insurance costs down and is now looking to change it, Im off out now to give it a deail and fix any problems in the paint and make it look like new or better than new.
The corsa changed in october 2003 with a slight redesign, then changed again in the last year to the current larger sized car. you should be able to get somthing reasonable with the new number plate style for your £2000. check out https://www.networkq.co.uk0 -
Hello fletcher1985
I'll move your thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board.

my old swift was a 1.0 and it was useless, when i cooled down it used to go ting ting ting for about 5 mins was so embarassing. my friend has a x reg 1.2 corsa which is what i want, but the only corsa in the next shap up from mine are on the 2000 and upwards plates i not seen a x reg one0

Have you thought about buying an old car? You could pick up a great classic car for under £2000, insurance is cheap as chips and if you are willing to get your hands dirty they are cheap to maintain.
You won't lose any money in depreciation, and while you're mates have Corsas you could have a convertable, or a classic Merc.0 -
na i would rather have a newer car mines a m reg i got now so would like something a little new,i have a horse so driving through the lanes would'nt be very good for a old classi car0

Try Autotrader, for £2K you can get a 2000/2001 Corsa.

How about a 3 door stilo - slightly bigger but cheap insurance for the 1.2 and 3 door looks quite sporty and has six gears- also very cheap to buy and insure - should get a 2002/3 with less than 40k for your money via ebay.I think....0
