Swiss Air! ARRGGGHHH!!

Im trying to book 2 one way flights from Paris to Dublin on 9th February. If i book return flights with them the return leg is 70 europer person, but i want one way, which is 934 euro per person!!! I dont understand how this can possibly be!! Is this normal??

  • Book the return - then either cancel or don't show
  • Its too expensive because we are paying £60 each to fly out of Belfast, not paying that only to use it as a return.

Yes this is pretty normal, at least for traditional airline. I am guessing some people/businesses pay what ever the cost is. last time I needed a one way flight on swiss, I just bought the return

Some 'full service' airlines will cancel the return leg if you do not turn up for the outward flight, or request the additional fare for the single flight. It doesn't make sense to me either!

Do no other airlines fly that route? x

You'll probably find the single fare is a fully flexible fare, hence the increase in price.
Book a return, use the outward leg then ditch the return leg. Problem solved.

Read the small print first ! - as has already been pointed out you may end up getting charged for the single fare at the extortionate rate. This ploy is often used by the ferry companies.

Panda, I'm sure you've maybe looked but what about using Ryanair instead? or even Aer Lingus - their prices look better.

Oh, and Hello from Lisburn too!

Just did a quick expedia check and you can do Paris - Cardiff - Belfast for £74.50 one way with FlyBe (if thats any help)

I don't think airlines (or Eurostar) do this, either in theory or in reality.

And whether the ferry companies ACTUALLY do it I don't know - but they do make it very clear when booking on line that you are liable.

Not if you use the outward but not the return. Nothing to do with 'the ferry companies'.
