re-installed windows xp but now have no sound!

As above says, I have had to re-install windows xp but now have no sound!I am trying to update xp but in the meantime does any-one have any idea on what i should do. 5 year old son loves doing his phonics online. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have lost your sound card drivers. Device manager will tell you what sound (onboard/card) you have. Once you have identified what you have d/load and install the appropriate drives from the manufacturers website.0

no i havent. there is no sound/volume symbol and i cannot find volume control anywhere.Thanks

If you have a 'driver' CD which came with PC - run this and let it install all drivers - in particular the sound ones.
Otherwise it's the control panel I'm afraid :eek:

Its a Dell. it did come with a driver cd which i installed after windows. I will try again in case i didnt do it properly.
Ahhh, Dell's are easy; just pump your service tag into their website and it'll bring up all the drivers you need for your system...........just download and runYou'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
