Where's the Water Bill

Options
Hi,

My brother and dad use to live in same house. My brother moved out and brought a new property so I decided to move back to my parents house.

I have asked my brother regarding water bills but he said that he has not received a bill for the last 10 years.

Where should I stand now? what must be the reason that there is no wate bill?

My dad is over 75 - is this may be the reason that we not getting a water bill?

Thanks
M

i think everyone has to pay for water bills, although there is normally a reduced rate if the property is unoccupied.

we had a problem with anglian water where we didn't realise we were paying only the unoccupied rate. when i realised, i rang up and had to pay for 2 years.

but, what they did tell me is that that is the most they could have made me pay (ie. even if it had been for longer). likewise, if you were going to ring them, i would wait until after the start of the new financial year;)

it could be that someone has been paying it by direct debit?

No one paid it by DD. I find it strange as there is water but no Bill. Is there anyone I can find out which water company I am with?

    Thanks

you could google your local area + water company. most water companies cover quite a large area.

if (unlike silly me) you wait until after april (if it is the same rules as anglian) you would only pay for the forthcoming year and the previous one - otherwise you may have to pay for 3 years. obviously other companies may have different rules.

one more thought, do you live in a rural area or on a farm estate? some places like this have their own supply plus own sewerage, run-off etc. could this be why you haven't had a bill?
