How To Get Mould off Window & Bathroom Sealant

Options
Seem to be getting allot of mould on the sealant/mastik by the bath and also on window sealants. The one in the bathroom will not come off after using allot of different things.

Also the grout in between the bathroom tiles have gone a different colour.

Can anyone suggest some good products to use to clear and then to protect?

Many thanks.

You won't remove it from sealant/grout, you need to scrape out the old and then re-seal/re-grout.

The best protection is to thoroughly wipe round and remove any excess water after showering etc.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.
  • as chuckles replies really, best to replace and use a quality sealant for bathrooms / wet areas with anti-mould.

Have you tried using ordinary household bleach?

That's what I use. Always worked for me up-to-now.

I use bleach too and an old toothbrush to scrub it with.

You can cover off white grout with trainer whitener!
I've also heard you can use de-scaler on grout to get it clean.
I use a grout rake (about £4 from screwfix)
  • For the grout around the shower tiles I use Cif power cream spray with bleach, its the blue spray bottle, Just spray it on and leave it overnight.
For the sealant, its best just to remove and replace as stated by chuckles

Detox (detol??) mould n mildew remover - in a bright green spray bottle - it says to leave on for no more than about 5 mins. but I ignore that, shut the door, and shower it away sometimes hours later. Make sure you get close up and aim the spray into the grout tho. You cant do that for too long cos it'll start to get on your chest! It's powerful stuff!

I use this on shower tiling. Works well but the smell wud be great as a burglar deterrent! Deadly on chest and eyes. Not to be recommended if you're sensitive.

Try your local hardwear shop or Lakeland if you have one nearby (or can order online) and get some HG mould remover....it will work miracles..!!!!...i tried everything that the supermarket had and nothing worked..then i saw this advertised in a cleaning article in a magazine about 4 years ago and thought i might as well try it....you spray it on...room well ventilated...and leave for 30 mins...more if really bad....wipe or rinse off....everything looks like new...i even spray it on my shower curtain at the bottom were it gets grubby....its about £5 a bottle.....hope this helps but i tell everyone to try this.....
