To be fair the OP wasn't looking for help, more they expected people to share their perspective on the situation which obviously not all do.
But as the OP said they did post it for people to have a laugh.
Hopefully next time the OP will simply phone them up and ask how much is outstanding and then clear it and then close the account which would have been simple to do.Nice to save.0 -
The OP was obviously in a state over the 8p 12p. The over use of !!!! is not going to help. GE money is a dreadful company but I'm sure even they would wipe out 8p but then again!
I was a bit furious myself a few months ago, I opened a Betfair account £10 deposit with a 0% purchase C/C. I wasn't given any warning that this would go through as a cash transaction, stupid me!!! it charged me 50p every month interest until I payed it the whole balance off.0 -
The OP did not come to the forum for help.the guy was just looking for some help. I thought that's what this forum was about.
S/he showed us the letter “look what a smart and clever guy/gal I am”,
hoping the forum members would share that opinion of his/her.
Well, people did not agree with the OP. That’s life!
It’s like “Pop Idol”: some contestants think they’re absolutely wonderful.
But nobody (apart from their mum) shares that opinion.0 -
Thanks to original poster. You stated at the very start of your post that you were sharing in order to give us a laugh. Well I think you have done the right thing, highlighting the foolishness of GE and the obvious error in their systems to even allow such a thing to happen.
Don't let the negative, smug responses get you down.0 -
Let me be a bit more serious; my earlier post was a little harsh and I apologise . It's bad they didn't cash the cheque, that is a mistake on their part. A polite telephone call, letter or email would probably have a higher rate of success but I believe they will, nevertheless, rectify their mistake.Do Something Amazing - Give Blood0

Kindly tell us where the OP states they are looking for 'help' - what in the original post leads you believe this?
E.g. "I wanted only to post the e-mail I've written to GE Money. It explain everything and I'm posting it only for you to have a laugh!!!!:-)))) " doesn't strike me as someone 'looking for help'.
All I can see is someone smugly posting a poorly worded, invalid 'complaint' that is going absolutely nowhere in some crass attempt to show off.0 -

I'm ever so new to this forum. I wanted only to post the e-mail I've written to GE Money. It explain everything and I'm posting it only for you to have a laugh!!!!:-)))) Be aware of them:
Dear GE Money,
I am writing as I am very unhappy with your service. On 20th Dec 2007 I have asked you to close my credit account with yourselves. I have posted a cheque for £1.00 along with my request as I wasn't sure how much do I own on the account.
I got my next statement this month and I found out that not only you didn't close the account and decided not to cash the cheque but out of £0.08 (yes, 8p) you have charged me £0.12 on interests as well. In total I've got £0.20 to pay. As I am really scared that you may decide not to cash my cheque again I have just used internet banking to pay this outstanding 20p.
I want GE Money management to answer my questions:
- If you didn't want to cash the cheque why on earth you couldn't contact me? Why noone bothered to call me or so? I have left your customer services my mobile number when you posted my statement to the wrong address which has caused delay in payment. You've got my postal address so you could write. Why you have never contacte me that you are unhappy to close down my credit account with you? If you did you would find out that I am trying to rid off all the financial products I do not need to put my credit record right and it has not got anything to do with your company what so ever.
- Why you have charged me £0.12 in interests on £0.08 balance for a month? It is 150% interests for a month!!!!!!!! That's ridiculous!!!! Please, don't get me wrong I'm not complain about 12p in this case - I complain about 150% interest per month!!!! Especially that I was willing to pay!!!! I've posted you a cheque!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am expecting you to get back to me in writing within 7 days from this e-mail's date. As you have noticed, I decided to forward this e-mail to Financial Ombudsman as well so they can have a lough at you as much as everyone else will be. Please, be also aware that this will be distributed along to all my friends, collegues and business partners so they will be aware of your politics.
Have a great day!!!
With Regards,
By you sending this email you are tying up useful resources at GE Money. Some has to deal with this complaint and someone who really does need help is left waiting.
I work in a complaints dept and know how irritating it is having to deal with people like yourself. Have you thought about taking up cycling.0 -
