New<id is this a con

I purchased two makeovers & photoshoots from lastminute.com for my daughter & I.

I was going to take her for her birthday.

Now I've just rang to book & they INSIST I have to pay a deposit as well. I told them these are tickets I have purchased NOT "won", but they insist, no deposit of £25 PP no booking.

They insist they make a loss if I don't turn up!

How can they make I loss, I've already paid them.

Now it gets worse, not only must I pay a deposit in case I don't turn up, but I don't even get it back when I do.

I get it back 7 to 10 days after my appointment:mad:

This is wrong surely:confused:

Why should I pay another £50? Ive already paid for makeover & a small photo each.

I just checked smallprint on lastminute, its there!

BUT it does not say, you don't get your "deposit" back on the day!!!
  • Hi

I did this last year for my two daughters and had to pay the deposits up front.

They had the photo shoots and when we went in to look at the pictures, they then give the hard sell to buy extra photos or bigger sizes in addition to the one free picture you get. They keep saying it will only be xxx amount extra as you have already paid us £50 for deposits so put that towards the extra cost. I said I wasnt interested to the bitter end when you realise they have reached the very bottom of what they are prepared to sell the extra print(s) for.

    Thanks for the info.

Did they offer you a CD of pics?
How much did they want for that?

Be careful. I imagine this is the same company that keeps reappearing under different names.

    Sorry I can't be more positive x
    Gone ... or have I?
  • I did it with a friend and she wanted extra pics, but didn't agree to buy until the very end, resulting in the number of pics she wanted for the deposit alone. She was pleased with her result, and we were both well chuffed with our makeovers, especially at the 2 for one price.... and we kept asking for refills on our Buck's Fizz as well! Must have had 4 each!

I can understand somewhat the deposit with the freebees, it stops people no-showing.
But I paid for these tickets (I didn't know they did them for free!).

So I really think they have a mega cheek demanding a deposit as well. The fact that you don't even get it back on the day is really taking the mick.

It isn't. It's kosher. I've used them before. They've been around for about 15 years I think as part of Burlingtons hair group. ;)

from memory, it was a couple of hundred pounds. bear in mind a print of each picture is about 50 quid. if you pre-order you get them for half price. when we did it there was mum, my sister and me. we each got a free 5x7, and we'd paid for 4 more (100 pounds at half price, i think) so mum got to choose 7 pics in total.

when they arrived we scanned them at high resolution and blew them up to 10x8/took extra copies etc.

i wouldn't have bought a cd - there were too many dud pics for that!!!
