Ticket master rip off

my take that tickets came from seetickets via RM, luckily with postage.0

I have got 4 tickets to the same concert, £73 a pop. I don't have a problem with that but it is quite shocking to see how many are now for sale on Ebay, and the prices.
Its an open marketplace but perhaps instead of selling tickets for general entry, they should sell permissions to individuals to gain entry - that way, you wouldn't be able to resell them.0 -
This is a question about the supply of tickets by Ticket Master (TM).
I booked by phone with TM in Dec 2007 for the Elton John concert at Doncaster, which takes place in July this year. TM tells me that I shall be sent these tickets “at least 5 days before the date of the concert”. Now this I cannot understand, not only areTM benefiting from interest on the money I paid them, they are also not giving me what is mine – the tickets. Could it be that the tickets are not being provided to TM by the organisers? However this delay in sending tickets does seem to be the general policy TM.
Does anyone have any ideas here?

Hi Tony,
Welcome to MSE.
I think that the idea behind sending them out so late is two fold: firstly, they are less likely to be lost by the customer if they are posted later on, and secondly, if they state this in their policy it stops customers calling a lot earlier to chase up their tickets.
In practice, the tickets rarely arrive that late. I order a lot of tickets (maybe they could start doing discounts for repeat customers?!) and I find they are usually delivered within a few weeks of ordering, and a long time before the actual show.Gone ... or have I?0 -
plus im guessing its to prevent people selling on tickets as easily0

I think it can also depend on when they get their information - it isn't uncommon for a support act and running times to be finalised much closer to the date of the show than the tickets start selling, so in order to print the correct information on the tickets, they leave it until nearer the time.0

In order to avoid these charges i believe you need to go down the Box office, they dont allow any purchases over the phone, because then they would break TM contract. Box office are only allowed to purchase, in person.0

I bought 9 tickets to a musical costing £180 plus £23 service and processing charge. Which is expensive I know, and I've just come to accept this. BUT since my tickets arrived in the post without the postage paid and I had to collect it from the post office paying a £132 handing fee, I had a suspicion Ticketmaster did this very often.
Since I have found out my friend had this happen to her and other posts on the internet confirm this.
So not only is there the expensive £23 service and handling charge, Ticketmaster don't even bother sticking a stamp on the envelop so you have the added hassle of going to the post office.
Well, I wasn't going to let this lie so I called them (costing me money) and queried it. They ask me to write to a free post address to claim the monay back.
I'm going to do this as a matter of principle BUT how many othersdo not bother??0 -
It might be a good idea to include the freepost address for any other members who have suffered likewise:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

What annoys me is when they charge postage costs on e-tickets
The transaction fee I don't have too much problem with, that's how they make their money after all, can't expect them to work for nothing.0
