Ok, not for a few weeks and I don't wanna alienate the singletons but what are loved-up MSE-ers doing for Feb 14?
My partner has branded it a card-makers' holiday after three previous years of being fairly romantic for the average Geordie male.
This does coincide with us getting a house we are working on and him being drawn to to light financially speaking.
I have a half-price voucher for a nice local hotel, so for £40 we could have a night there with brekky, and if I review a restaurant I am lucky enough to be able to claim £20 of it back through work.
That and some cheap wine and some of the moves I've picked up at my pole-dancing class I thought we were onto a winner.
But he has refused to do anything on the grounds we need to save.
Boo hoo!
Any suggestions for an MSE Valentines Day?

LOL actually I went to see an IFA when we first tried to buy a house he told me the only way I'd get a mortgage is dumping my OH.
On the plus side he is a total DIY and car repair genius - he has just installed loads of cool ceiling downlights in what will be our bedroom and replaced my car's waterpump when it went tats up.

I hope he's an electrician because i think if u do work like that u need it to be certificated before u at least resell it. The legislation is there to stop cowboys cocking it up (i'm not calling ur OH one thou)
I also know u may not be selling it in the near future but chances are u will in the future

As for Valentines, i dunno, surely its about being together rather than spending heaps of money.
Get a film, a bottle of wine and cook him a romantic meal?

My OH and I just ignore valentines day, not for money saving reasons, just because we think it is a load of rubbish (sorry to all the hopeless romantics out there) - this just happens to fit in perfectly with my new money saving ways:D.
We also skip Christmas presents too as we don't see any point in me spending x on something that he probably doesn't really want and vice versa when it is already such an expensive time of year.
God - romance really is dead in my world isn't it!!;)£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

OH & I last year set a £15 limit on getting each other a meaningful gift. I got a really nice photo frame and put pictures of us from all our holidays - was a really nice gift for £15. My OH went OTT and spent more than that though - naughty naughty.
This year will probably do something similar to last year - might just use the money we'd spend on each other to just go out for a nice meal!
I always tell my OH not to buy me flowers etc, I think they are a waste of money as they are a total rip off around Valentines time!0

            hey
had to laugh when i read this, like the OP I'm married to a geordie guy too, and i thought it was just him being unromantic!
Now I know its the norm up in geordie land to not be interested in cards, how do the card shops survive up there?!
