I would like to make scrummy iced buns (like the sausage shaped ones you can buy) and am looking for a sweet dough recipe to use.
Anybody got any recipes please ?
Thanks

I use this recipe. If I want it sweet, I add an extra about 1tbsp sugar after the first proving. However, if I'm adding a lot of sweet icing, that isn't strictly necessary.

Thanks Penny
Thanks D&DD - I have seen people on here raving about your apple braids so I printed the recipe off a couple of days ago ready to tryCheers, I think I will have a go with the same dough then - perhaps do one apple braid and use the rest of the dough to make iced buns

No problem frugal
Thanks PP
Should carry a health warning though as its quite addictive!
The recipe easily makes a braid and around 6 buns and can be done by hand just as well as by machine0 -
Right.
That's it.
I'm banning all recipes for cakes, biscuits, sweets, puddings, pastries, pies, flans and any other darn recipe I see that makes me want to head straight for the kitchen to make it!
I'm not actually on a diet - just being a bit more careful about what I eat - and my waistline (which ballooned once my mobility dropped) is finally under control and slowly shrinking. Four belt notches down - three to go.
Reading all these recipes is torture and I'm not going to put up with it any more!

Thriftlady, is your glace icing all gooey like in the bakers? I've made it before with just icing sugar and water but it hardens really quickly - how do they get it to have that lovely thick goopy texture?Saving to pay the tax man0
