One of my favourite treats is an Iced bun from our local cake shop, at 35p the price is ok but I'm just wondering if I could make them. It is simple a bun with the white icing on top so don't think they should be difficult, but it's the recipe for the bun part I don't know, it does not taste like a bread bun. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and maybe have a recipe for them?

:rotfl: Not planning on desserting my local cake shop but it would be nice to have the choice if I feel like making some or maybe can't get out to town.

    Thanks for reading.

This is the iced buns recipe from the GC thread (think it was courtesy of funkfunkymonkey)- I have made these and they are lush :). There are loads of recipes at the start of the GC thread.

Oh, I love iced buns. Please can you make me some while you're at it!

    Heres the recipe
    Dough.
    1 sachet yeast
    15 oz strong bread flour
    3/4 tsp salt
4 tbspn sugar (less if wanted)
    4 1/2 tbspn butter
    2 eggs
    6 fl oz milk

Just pop it in your BM .

If you look on the 'feeding a family of 5' thread by D&DD you'll find lots of other recipes that are delicious.

this recipe is fantastic. I have been looking for an iced bun recipe for years. Thank you!

Oh no, I did as above for Ice Buns and they are not very nice at all, they did not rise and are very heavy. I use dried yeast from a tin so didn't know how much a sachet was so I used 6g? Was that too much or too little does anyone know, also didn't know temp or how long so put oven on 225 and left them in there 20 mins? Help anyone please, really thought I'd be able to make something from the bread maker that the kids would eat! Thank you. AG

I think you used the wrong yeast; try using the sachets that are designed for BM's. I used the tinned variety once for bread in the bm and it didn't work.

I know this is an old thread, but the yeast in a tin that I have has to be started first by adding to warm water and sugar, wait until it becomes frothy and then add to the mix - it isn't always instant like the sachets.
