I have had a cold call re Savior Energy and wonder if anyone has any experience of using this group to invest their money? Can I rely on the advice they give me? One person says her research shows they are a complete fraud but they appear on several websites.

If you want to risk all your money!
Chart here for Savior Energy. In the absence of any more info ... looks like a boiler room scam. Someone's bought shares / options (likely your callers?) to inflate the price - now they're trying to offload at the height. Then the shares will plummet.
If it sounds too good .......!!

Why thanks. Yes the shares went up suddenly! But they gave such positive technical, forecasts. However I was very suspicious about why they should trouble themselves with a small investor. And my son in law advised me firmly against for similar reasons to you. he is in Venture Capital.0

Lots of Boiler Room scams seem to eminate from Barcelona so my advice is unless you really know what you're doing or who you're dealing with I wouldn't touch it with a barge poll. There's an old Yorkshire saying "If in doubt, do nowt". I think it's worthwhile advice.Age & Treachery Will Always Overcome Youth & Enthusiasm !!

As post #4 - these seem to spring up every few months, probably same people - change the name and start again when things get too hot. Some are very plausible and have even used apparently legit solicitors in the UK. Unfortunately, by the time the sols get struck off your money is long gone.0

The cold call is your clue - it's a boiler room. If you give them any money you will lose it.0 -
Thank you ALL for your advice. I understand this method of contacting new clients is used in the USA, so suspended my suspicions a little. I am glad I took advice. It was also suggested that I watch the investment and see what happens! There are so many scams and you are vulnerable when you don't understand the market!!0

I was contacted about Savior Energy by a company called Bayer Investments (contacted me every few months for the last year or so with different offers but I've never dealt with them). This time I was offered 710 shares at $4.25 (currently trading at $5.00) as an "introductory" opportunity to make a reasonable return and then become a client. I was initially interested and wanted to see the paperwork but became suspicious when it arrived and I did my own research, including your forum entries (thanks!). When I called their 0800 number (now know they are not UK based) to cancel I was threatened with possible legal action as the shares had already been purchased on my behalf. I've contacted the FSA - helpful advice from them on boiler room scams - http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk0

I feel somewhat disappointed that I've never been contacted by a cold calling boiler room... I'd be quite amused by stringing them along for a while with no intention whatsoever of giving them my moneyI am a Chartered Financial Planner

Any further news on Bayer Investments? My brother in law had a flutter with them a while back and now he appears to have made a nice profit he is being asked for a huge chunk of cash up front to sell them. Something about releasing the shares and transfering them. We have looked into the company he has alledgedly invested in and the increase in share price is genuine, as in the company. He also has a certificate which shows he owns shares in that company but after reading this and being asked for so much cash up front we are unsure what to do? Does anyone have any advise and does anyone know how to check if the share certificate in genuine?

Hi
I think you'll find certificates are genuine, but possibly of no value. Bayer Investments are a fraudulent company and are now on the FSA website dclaring so. GIVE THEM THEM NO MONEY AT ALL!0
