UK Online Final Word?

I am in the midst of finding a new ISP and I've been attracted to UK Online's 8000 (8Mbps) package - but with LOADS of reports of crappy customer service, 35 day wait for activation and basically the connection being unconnectable - I am thinking otherwise.
Anyone actually ON the 8Mbps service and what are their thoughts.

The more I read about them the less inclined I am to use them.
DEFINATELY read that link and other user comments and you'll realise that this company is crap.

Nope sorry... Have to strongly disagree. Been with them since march and only had one problem and that was sorted within 10 minutes and got through to thier customer service within 5 rings. I have contacted customer service 7 times for various things and never waited more than 2 minutes. If you have to wait they take your name and number and call you back. Now 14 of my friends are on it to and NONE of us have ever had any problem with the service or customer services.
I and 2 of my friends are on the 8MB service and we all get the full 8MB speeds. Its great to be able to download from 2 sites at the same time and get over 400KBs on each. Online Games is a dream as well. I play Unreal tournament, Juiced, Fifa and Counterstrike and never had a problem and with extremely low pings.
As for the connecting end of things.. This is down to the high demand for the service, I remember reading somewhere they have over double thier market share now. The 35 day lead time is just a guide as one of my friends had this but connected within 10 days. You can migrate over so there is no need for any serious downtime between connections.
Thier customer service is manned by english people (not english speaking people in some far off country) and people who actually understand what you say to them in technical terms instead of wanting you to explain it to them simply.
The link you gave will also show people unhappy with services such as Plusnet, Bulldog, Pipex, Nildram, BTYahoo, Supanet, Virgin, F2S, E7Even and AOL as well as many more.0 -
Been checking their site for over a month for availability of the £9.99 per month 512k service in my area, a call to their customer service centre wasn't able to shed any light on when capacity would be increased to allow extra customers to register. Was able to sign up yesterday at last, chose the "Wires Only" option as the Voyager 105 they were offering for £30 is readily available on eBay for £10. Obviously I have yet to experience their service so only time will tell.0
