Hi

Like others with kids, I've got my son a PAYG mobile phone (Sony Erikkson) on orange and in the first week he's used up all of his credit accessing webpages.

Is it possible to block access or better still remove the option from the menu completely?

Hope someone can help!

You can remove the internet connection settings on the phone then one cannot access the internet as the phone does not know how to connect.
  • Delete the settings by going into settings, then connections, and deleting settings in gprs or packet data settings fields. One prob with this is he'll also lose the ability to send or recieve picture messages. The other problem is that the settings can just be re-entered at some other point. Or you can maybe ask orange to disable data on the the account. Not sure if orange do any payg data add ons which may be good for you. Also, using opera mini would cut down the cost of data if you keep it.
If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.

call orange and see if they can put a gprs bar on the account (i know o2 can do this) if you just delete the settings on the phone there is nothing to stop him getting the settings again from manufacturers website, however if there is a gprs bar on acc he wouldnt be able to access it at al

Thanks everyone. I've deleted the connections as suggested and that seems to have worked.

    Cheers

by the way - yes, orange can block GPRS access but it will generally also stop mms being sent. Helpdesk (found via the automated system- 150 for PAYM, 450 for PAYG) can do it.

(just incase anyone ever needs to)
    On the up :D
