She would be entilted to wtc as she earns under 16,000 and is over 25. Her mothers circumstances would not affect what she can claim.0

Sorry Calley I disagree with you here, I earn quite a bit more than the OP and I am entitled to, and receive, WTC.
You can disagree with me all you like below is a direct cut and paste from the government website.
1. Are you aged 25 or over?
2. Do you work over 30 hours a week?
3. Do you earn less than £11,700 if you're single or £16,300 with a partner?
The op earns 12K a year so does not qualify. I work and have a disabled husband on benefits and don't earn much more than the OP and even I don't get WTC.

HMRC website:Working Tax CreditWorking Tax Credit£0.00This is based on your household income of £12000.00.This is the amount your household may be entitled to from 25/01/2008 until 05/04/2008. This result is only an estimate and is based on the information provided assuming you make the claim on 25/01/2008. This means the amount shown may not be your entitlement for the full year.
Maybe the website is wrong?
Edit: Cross posted with Calley. Calley is correct, enter an income of £11699 and you get WTC. Thanks Calley xGone ... or have I?0 -

Not they would not as £16,300 is the limit for couples with no children. Single people with no children is £11,700 limit.
The op earns £12K.
I always check things before I answer a question so that I know the information that I give is correct.

I would just like to point out that when claiming Industrial Injuries Benefit you are assessed as a percentage!! The minimum I believe is 20% before you are paid any Benefit at all. I know because I also claim Industrial Injuries Benefit.
You can also claim Disability Living Allowance whilst receiving Incapacity Benefit and Industrial Injuries Benefit.
Hope this helps.0 -

That is interesting to know. As I don't deal with Industrial Injuries Benefit I never knew you where graded in percentages.
You learn something new everyday.
Thanks for that.
