Carphone warehouse arrgggg!!!

Hello all

i took an £18 a month contract out with CPW... Its £18 a month, but I have to pay the full price of £35 a month. I have to write to them every 3 months to claim for the 3 X£18 I have overpaid by... what a load of crap??!!!

Then, I just called them to ask when my contract expires... they said 23rd of April. I have to call them on this date, they give me a code, I then have to write to them to request cancellation...

Now this is interesting... I cannot request the code til 30 days before my contract expires.... But they need 30 days notice to cancel my contract in writing. So unless I get the code, then drive to their office to give my cancellation letter, I will be charged an extra month.

This is so out or order, how can they get away with this?

oooooh rant!!

Not an extra month, but their cancellation scam (a word I VERY rarely use!) has been visited many times on another thread.

I emailed them about cancellation and they told me the same thing i.e 30 days b 4 contract ends. I replied back highlighting the same as you - they then rang back saying to ring 34 days b 4 your expiry date and they will try to offer u a deal .....

hmm the cashback u knew about before taking it out...
u had 14 days to cancel if u didnt like the terms...
as with any contract u need to wait till close to the end to cancel... THEN use the PAC code within 30 days or be rolled over to pay another month...

whats the problem? as i cant see it...

Why don't you all just go and read the long-standing thread if you REALLY don't get it??

Just write to them mid-March (address in link above I think, the Southampton one) and ask them to text you the PAC code.
    No problem!

  • what i'm saying is, they will not issue me with a PAC code until 30 days before my contract ends. All I'm saying is why have a contract expiry date when its impossible to cancel on that date.

Thanks to all those who replied so nicely. there's a lot of odd people out there with many issues.

all the best to the nice ones.
  • p.s. i was just talking about the £35 fee and the £18 I have to ask back in general terms - to highlight that i believe CWH to be underhand - just thinking of all the thousands of people that dont do this... I obviously wasnt looking for someone to point out the obvious. And also, if you dont have advice to add, why add in the first place. so strange.

yea but they allow u to upgrade around 2-3 months before ending. so they wont let u end before the last 30 days. so u get ur pac code within 7 days so that leaves u with a 3 week 21 day window to use it... thats not impossible...
what is underhand about cashback on redemption?
