Lowell - DCA - sharks, bullies... stay away! Here's my story.

You poor thing, you sound like you've had a terrible time:o let's hope it gets sorted ASAP.
They sound like vile people, I can't imagine how awful it must be if you actually did owe the money & were feeling desperate, something like this could be enough to send someone over the edge.
I would report them, whatever the outcome - evil people:mad:

Thanks kizzy, they are really awful. I ifnd it a bit strange that i have to sort it out even if it has nothign to do with me as its not my debt.. its just so unfair.. t mobile are being quite helpful actually but they cant change the bleeding default, only those worms that call themselves lowell can...

really scared that thisdefault wotn be removed, now extra scared that they do soemthing with my signature (butthen again i sent the very same letter to all credit agencies at the same time so there will be proof of what i said even if loweell dont keep it or whatever...

you know these people really shouted at me. who are they to treat a human being like that? even if it was my debt, being in debt is not being a murderer, or a peadophile or a rapist! its just a person who was a bit irresponsible with finances. since i am in the board i have never seen a debtor who would not want to pay back all their debt honestly. these people here all struggling to pay back what they owe , they are genuine people who have made a mistake but want to get ti right now. and those dca's? anything they do is sneaky, illegal and rude!

and surprise, i have not even been apologised to, not even a simple, automatic "wll,sorry about this mistake", ohh nooo WAY. i dont think they are aware that that word exists. i have spent three days in hell because of them and the deault is still on my account and they cant even say sorry!!!

Just an update that no change so far. Lowell have not replied to my letters yet. I have sent 5 so far, 4 emails and one recorded letter. Awful people.

This realy is why you should never phone a dca its a pointless excersise in this case they could have succeeded in getting some one to pay a bogus bill , even when i was in debt i would due to learning very fast never talk to a dca via phone i sent two letters max if they ignored them any other letters from them went straight in to the bin ,if they didnt correspond i didnt talk to them it was simple eventually some went to court , some agreed payment via letter etc etc i realy do not understand why people allow themselves to be insulted and abused via phone the dca never believe any thing there aim is to brow beat you in to giving the money in most cases you cant afford people must take controll no one has the right to insult you etc .

Hiya, thanks for answering, but you see my problem is not that they will go to court.. Is that they have already put a default on my file! And I need them to remove it since its not my debt!!!! Arrrrgh how I hate them.

Welcome!
I would say don’t waste time with the DCA, just get the name of the alleged creditor and contact them directly. Is this debt yours or is it an error?

It is mine; kind of!! I don't want to go into full details till I get them myself; but basically I thought something was paid with by a grant from an agency (fees... tuition.... ) and now; two years later, I had call from DCA. They were so rude and basically knowing that others have xperienced this is great. the college itself are so helpful and friendly; a guy admitted to me on the phone that he could see no reason why on earth letters were set to an address I clearly havn't lived at for two years.

Well first of all you need to get all the details first (please don’t forget that the letters should not be signed, just your name printed at the bottom).
I wonder why didn’t they contact you earlier, before they sold the debt to the DCA… seems a bit dodgy to me! If you can't pay, just make a token payment and tell them you will pay monthly… but first get all the details.
And nobody has the right to insult you and be rude to you, these Lowells are exceptionally awful, try not to phone them and try correspondingby email and don’t let them bully you itno anything, and don’t listen when they imply that they are bailiffs (they are not!) and that they can seize your goods, because they can't…
