in Water bills
I recently had a water metered fitted and the first bill came in at having used 28 units for just over a months usage for me and my two year old! I have just gone and read the meter for my self and it is now 77 units meaning i have used 49 units in just 41 days? Is there any way i can be using this amout of water and not realising it?

The average consumption is 60 units(cubic metres) per year per person - so 120 units for the two of you.(approx 0.33 units per day.
So you are in line to use 440 units a year!! and one heck of a bill.
Possibilities - a leak? Easy to check - look at meter with no water on and note the decimal places. If you leave it for a few hours(when you are out) the reading shouldn't have moved at all.
Reading wrong meter? - happens.
Tap running somewhere? Leaking toilet? Overflow?0 -
You are reading the white digits, not the red ones0

yes im reading the white ones!
Well as the end red one is constantly turning even when ive turned the water c o c k off it looks like i have a leak and the water people are coming to dig up the water meter to my house to check!
Just shows you and i very nearly just filed the bill away without checking if my useage was average!:hello:"Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing it doesn't go in a fruit salad0 -

Have you checked that they are going to do this free of charge?
Any leak after the meter is your responsibility and they can make you pay.
However many water companies will do one repair free as long as it relatively straightforward.
They also might give you some rebate off excessive bills you have paid as a goodwill gesture.0
