I used to do my best to fill my green boxes but don't anymore.
A few months ago, my green boxes were full with the usual newspapers, tins, foil, cardboard etc. I had a "glossy" fruit juice carton which I couldn't work out whether it was acceptable or not, so I left it at the top of all the other stuff. I naturally assumed the bin men would leave it in the box if it wasn't acceptable.
How wrong can you be. The bin men left both boxes untouched and stuck a big yellow sticker on BOTH boxes saying they weren't emptied because of unsuitable contents. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the other box - all it contained were newspapers. It surely would have been far better to just take the boxes and leave the plasticcy container with the sticker on it.
So, like I say, I can't be bothered now. I put the obvious bigger stuff in the green boxes, but a lot gets put in the grey bin as well.0 -

It is a nightmare, have to keep checking the leaflet to see "can I put this in it?".
When did your box go missing?
I went away on Thursday night for the weekend so put the bin, box and bag out just beforehand. I got back on Sunday morn and only the bin stood there. Hmmm. I'll check the garage. My next door neighbour actually may have put it in there. Otherwise it would be a mysteryThe reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -

i'd be interested in how much extra pollution is caused by this recyling scheme...
Today we had the landfill truck round to empty the wheelie bins (they came about 9.30am). 6pm the recycling lorry came and emptied the black bin of glass etc. but for some reason they didnt empty the bags containing the paper, so I assume ANOTHER lorry will be round tomorrow to collect that.
Bl**dy ridiculous! :mad:0
